I want to upgrade my turbo of my S3 but I am not sure which one to go for.

There's the TTE 470 and 525r and i saw a video of an S3 running some TTE6XX turbo doing 100-200 in 5 seconds with a built engine.

I want performance without any more lag than the stock turbo.

Could you please recommend out of experience?

For the 6xx, everything needs to be upgraded and it'l all be maxed out.

Im' going to go for the 525. It offers great power and works with stock engine (with supporting mods) and gearbox (minus clutch and maps)

The only appeal for the 470 is its cheaper, but then again so is the revo turbo for 500hp.

what about APR's Stage 3 one just released?

My local tuner only has TTE turbos. The TTE470 and 525r are available but he says the racingline oem+ stage 3 is the best but I have no idea what that is. He advised against the 525r as he said it is very laggy. Can anyone comment on that?

The most popular routes to a new turbo sit with Turbo Engineering’s TTE 470, TTE525R or Turbo Technics TT V2 or newer TT V4. As you have mentioned Revo now offer a Turbo upgrade option as well. In fact there are probably multiple routes to take but these above appear to be the more well trodden for those looking to go Stage 3.

Generally speaking I think the larger you go with the single turbo the more lag you are likely to introduce, but with the added benefit of lower boost to make the same or higher power.

In terms of members running big power, these guys probably have more experience from a forum perspective than anyone else.

@S3Alex, @RedS3Reilly, @Craig Cull

Crag was kind enough to start a recent big build thread below on the FL S3 where he utilised the TT525 and the V4 later on to an excellent result. Tuning completed by the well respected MRC. Its an interesting and informative read, and really shows whats possible with the running gear on the 8V cars.

why can't we just bolt on a supercharger to our cars? [flame suit on]

The racing line OEM+ stage 3+ definitely out here in Australia and great results.

It would be my choice if I was doing turbo replacement.

Check out mullerhaus on facebook or Harding performance. Both being posting dyno, track and 1/4 mile results.

What about turbo lag? Will both the 525r and the racingline have the same response?

Is anyone running a totally different setup to the ones mentioned above ie Garrett, Borgwarner or Precision..

Ive looked everywhere but no one seems to be using anhthing apart from TTE, revo or Turbo Technics.

Hybrid turbos such as TTE, Revo etc tend to be the most popular turbos for this Engine because they are easier to mount/cheaper and are pretty reliable than compared to a traditional big turbo. Haven’t come across anyone running a Garrett, Borgwatner tbh.

So I've decided to narrow my choice down to the TTE 525r and the VWR OEM+ turbo however I cannot make a decision since I cannot find anything regarding the power/response of them both. How can I chose in this case?
