Boring question time....

I have a faulty front parking sensor that needs replacing. Part number is actually a VW one (150919275), but it looks the same as the Audi ones. I have looked on ebay, but I guess the 'new' ones on there aren't genuine? Anyone bought one that they know works/is reliable from EBay? Or should I just go to a main dealer? Cheers.

That part number that 1S0 919 275A (maybe now a "D") I agree that most of the cheap sensors on ebay are just that, cheap copies made in China. I found a couple being disposed of by an ex-SEAT dealership, very poor item description as the ex-SEAT parts person disposing off these items had not considered where else they were used, got a bargain though - if they work!

Edit:- my current task is working out where to get these two sensors painted in the body colour, I'm wondering if my local "Chips Away" would be up for doing that for sensible money, if not then maybe I'll need to order in a small spray can combo and do them myself.

Edit:- sorry that part number should not have an "A" or "D" after it as your sensors will have right angled connectors and not "straight" connectors as the "A" has.

Yeah, I have already ordered a rattle can of Scuba blue paint, and have some lacquer already. Just need the damn sensor now!

There is/are some new genuine PDC sensors on ebay pre-painted in Scuba Blue, which is more than there are in Deep Sea Blue Pearl! Maybe in Germany, so maybe check that out so that you can compare with buying in UK? The rattle cans I saw were coming from Germany as a pair with lacquer for £33 - can you remember roughly what you paid for your cans, the ones that I was looking at are small, which suits my present use.

I corrected my version of that part number to 1S0 919 275 as your car obviously needs sensors with right angled connectors and not inline or straight connectors!

Edit:- maybe adding your paint colour code to that part number will send you to the pre painted sensors. I was also looking for Platinum Grey painted sensors for the grill of my S4 and found them in Germany (ebay).

Genuine sensors are a crazy price, £30 odd last time I checked, no justification as far as I can see for this price, typical Audi! I buy mine form E.Bay, had a few duffers, even thouse with genuine Audi markings don't last 5 mins, I guess they are "refurbished". Company on E.Bay called Okzam do decent replicas, middle ground (for E.Bay) price and they work and last a reasonable time. Paintwise you are best to get a local paint supplier to make you up an Aerosol to your paint code, costs me about £15 and you will have loads left for touching up. Laquer is fine from Halfrauds but their paint colours are frequently off to say the least, hope this helps.

A19quattro, I was thinking that your "£30 odd" per sensor from Audi sounds a bit low, but time will tell!

On pricing on ebay, I was looking for the anchor/grommets that hold the rear seat base down in place, as they seem to get damaged when you lift the seat base to fit new wiring, on ebay, I could have bought these items for £7>£8 each - price from Audi dealer was £1.69 - now that was a shock, and the rubber seals under these sensors are just pennies from Audi! I was brought down to earth when I ordered in a couple of sensor mounting brackets for the outer sensors as I'm retro fitting them to the front of my S4, from VW they were over £8 each. (maybe swings and roundabouts?)

That is a good price for a genuine VW group sensor, the lowest I got them for was £12 for an exSEAT dealership disposing of stock. I must confess that I have bought an extra one for back up, but paid far too much for it, really too many "China" ones around and used ones so I just jumped for the next available genuine one while I buying bits as the exSEAT dealer initially sent one a wrong one - but sorted it out later (right angled instead of straight connector - usable in some locations but not correct). The paint double pack of spray cans I bought via the parts request on this site at a very good price.

Edit:- I've added that ebay listing to my "saved list" and might even buy one so that I can spray all four at the same time and hopefully end up 2 spare body coloured sensors - to cover me for the future.
