Facelift THE NEW AUDI A3 (2016 FACELIFT) – STILL AHEAD OF THE CURVE

I am also waiting to order a S3 saloon with exclusive paint.

Who informed you that exclusive paints cannot be ordered yet and did they indicate when they can be ordered?

Regards

Foofoo
Dealer did not indicate when it would be orderable...just that I can't order it yet...I just want my sepang s3 saloon ...it's not much to ask lol

I've enquired as well for an exclusive paint and was told it's not available yet for the FL A3/S3... Not entirely sure why... I'm pretty sure my dealer would have been happy to charge me an extra £1500 or so (£2000+ exclusive paint - £550 for Daytona Grey) so there must be something that stops being able to spec an exclusive paint for now... Maybe they don't do them during the first few months of production... Clutching at straws! No idea :-(
Out of curiosity what exclusive paint you want?

If you have the adaptive cruise then it could be that holding it up

Have Audi put the ACC sensor in a sensible place on the facelift? My Golf R has it in a prime position for getting prodded by a tow bar ( I know a few people this has happened to), whereas the newer Passat has it higher up, behind the front grille badge.

From the pictures I've seen it is in the same place as on the PFL, lower front bumper.

I won't spec ACC because of the fugly sensor. If they had hid it like on the A4 it'd be a nice to have; but not for me with it stuck on like an afterthought.

Hi,

I've been playing with the configurator and I've got a question. Anybody knows what's the underlying reason why Matrix LED headlights are incompatible with the Driver Assistance Pack? It's an issue that only affects to A3, since in the A4 and Q7 they are compatible...

Thanks.

ACC is one of the best features on my A3 and I honestly can't see what the objection is to a small dome underneath the number plate. But each to his own I guess!

Out of curiosity what is it with ACC that you think it's one of the best features on your A3? Genuinely interested.

1. As an example I live near the A30 in Devon which has a 50mph limit for much of its length from Ilminster to Honiton. I can set the ACC to 50mph and despite the traffic speeding up and slowing down the car will maintain the set distance behind the car in front without me touching either accelerator or brakes. If the cars in front come to a halt (as they often do) then my car brakes to a halt and pulls away again when the traffic obstruction clears. It makes driving in traffic so easy - much easier than with "normal" cruise control.
2. Similarly on a motorway in roadworks - I set the ACC to whatever is the limit and the car maintains that speed, accelerating or braking as necessary.
3. It's not perfect though - if I have ACC set and I approach a roundabout I usually cancel it as it can get confused - if the car in front brakes because of traffic on the roundabout the ACC brakes my car. If then the car in front goes as it sees a gap, unless I had cancelled it my car would go also - which may well not be safe!
4. But on balance it really is one of my favourite options and I would specify it above most other things if I changed my car.

Ok thx for sharing your experience.
I think you have more faith than I have in these systems! :)
Don't do enough motorway for 1 and 2 to be a problem plus I'm fine with using the left/right pedals ;-)

My wife was the same as you (i.e. wasn't sure she trusted the system!). But then she used it one day and now loves it. I'm also fine with using the left right pedals but in traffic it takes away some of the strain. But if you don't drive in traffic then you are very lucky!

I find the ACC works extremely well in slow traffic queues. It is also very useful when I'm using cruise control on long motorway journeys to Germany. If you are coming up behind a slower moving vehicle and there is a vehicle about to pass you in the outside lane and you cannot pull out, you do not have to cancel the cruise control. The ACC slows you down to stay behind the vehicle in front until the other vehicle has passed then you can pull out without have to reset anything and quickly go back to your previous cruising speed. This happens quite a lot on German autobahns which is probably why it was developed.

The least chosen option on the list unless you trawl motorways on a constant basis.... Even then it will bore you to death after a while... And you will compelled to switch it off

In your opinion. No an opinion shared by those who use it on a regular basic. Much more useful option than quite a number that are regularly chosen.

The majority of owners don't specify it.....so what does that tell you,if semi autonomous driving is your thing knock yourself out

"knock yourself out" - you see that's exactly what you won't do with ACC

I have cruise control, had a courtesy S3 with ACC, absolutely loved it. You can set it to three different car paces (I keep it on 2 just in case it decides to forget!), every time ACC had to slow I always kept foot on brake ready to press just in case!

The ease of it is amazing though, it picks up speed and drops all by itself. Slip into S and it picks it up quicker. Wish I spec'd it!

Cornering lights suck :-{ (just wanted to remind S3 buyers!)

So you added more stress thinking about what if the damn thing decides to go completely bonkers??!? :D

Ha,can of worms. I'm in the camp of would probably appreciate ACC and not denying its usefulness. But it looks gash, and on the pics of the FL S3, they seem to have the even fuglier flat sensor not the dome one. Maybe that will change for UK spec but not prepared to risk it (I already ordered my f/l S3 saloon).

I find ACC very useful for long motorway journeys. Only thing I dislike is the position of the ACC stalk - far too low.

Haven't had ACC yet but love the sound of it and will be speccing it on the next car. I don't do a whole lot of motorway driving or sit in traffic that often but when I do it does my head in so really looking forward to seeing ACC in action. I'm sure I'll be covering the brake the first few times but I'll soon build up confidence in it.

The VW setup is better. It has the ACC controls on steering wheel buttons.

True. But could the B&O save your life if you lost concentration on a busy motorway?
Edit. Although there have been a couple of occasions when a Big Mac has saved my life.

Would take the ACC over the B&O all day. I'm streaming average music from Spotify most of the time. It sounds the same whether it is through standard speakers or B&O. Surely you would need to be pushing some high quality audio to really get any benefit from B&O? No offence to any music people, it all sounds the same to me.

If you set streaming/download quality to "Extreme" you would hear a difference through B&O.
