It's a saloon....................only ever gonna be one winner!! ;)

Are we taking bets on who's gonna come up with some lame excuses for the M135 ......................or what about cornering....................:blahblah1:

When I had the M135i the launch control feature was woeful as in the video really just bags and bags of wheelspin, the M135i would easily pull away from the S3 saloon in anything other than a traffic light gran prix

Yeah, Audi, quick in a straight line :p

Standard :D

Now do it without Launch Contriol :p

yes, for what's it worth 300 is more than I'll ever need. :grinning:

I just had to check your sig about a dozen times just to make sure I wasn't hallucinating, but it definitely says S3!!

If you're saying none of us need 300bhp on a normal drive I'd probably agree but the guys in the video don't look like they're driving to work to me!! lol

300 BHP...Erm....NOT MUCH FASTER THAN 250.....367 BHP.....Now you are talking....that's fast.....the torque on the RS3 seemed limitless....torque matters more than BHP in normal day to day driving

Get a big Diesel engine then.

With practiced and well timed footwork, the launch control takeoff can be used in normal daily driving. I use it on my 1.8T to get around the turbo lag when crossing intersections and merging into moving traffic from a standstill.

It's really just like driving a manual where you'd rev up slightly extra and slip the clutch a bit to get decent movement off the line. You don't need to let the turbo fully spool with the engine screaming for every launch, and if you pedal quick enough, the launch control happens way less aggressively.

That 135i is trying so hard to be a Sepang S3!

Done the big diesel thing, certainly has it's moments but when pondering around town, it's a bit clunky and noisy.
On the S3, I'm getting fed up with needing manual mode to get around the sort comings of S tronic. Might just as well had the manual in the first place and spent the money on more options (probably ones I don't need but hey, why have an options list if not to tick .:greedy dollars:)

'clunky and noisy' = take to dealer if you ask me. Mine is so quiet round town I can barely hear what the engine and gearbox are doing half the time!

God dammit. I've just handed back an S3 I was given as a loan car while my A3 was in and I've just realised that I never gave launch control a go!

I'm fairly new to the DSG box but it certainly isn't clunky and noisy, in auto you'd hardly know it was changing gear when driving "normally" If you back off the power as you shift it can feel it but still no where near clunky.

Given my experience with the manual S3 clutches, DSG is the only way unless you just budget £1200 for an uprated clutch and flywheel

I think his point is that he found having a big diesel a bit clunky and noisy - not his S3

....indeed you are quite correct....................must stop speed reading everything!

Blimey, thought I was doing something wrong, yes I was referring to the diesel :welcoming:

I guess with the auto I don't want to need to change gear myself but at roundabouts etc I sometimes drop down so's not to get caught out.
It's liveable and the DSG can change gear quicker than me, on the other hand I can decide what gear I need better than it can.
Hopefully one day a `suits all box` will appear.

We all love the sound and torque of the 2.5l engine, but @jassyo06 could you really live with the handling and understeer? ;)

Watch in particular, the steering wheel angle......... :fearscream::fearscream::fearscream:

I was going to post a short clip of my recent track day in my S3, but operator error, meant the phone didn't record on the session I wanted, but I didn't get to do anymore sessions as I managed to lose a few chunks of tread off my driver side front tire.. lol - but the steering angles looked fairly similar in the S3 :grumpy:

I'm torn on the entire DSG vs Manual! I started to consider going DSG next time, but the other night on the way to work I hit the lights just right and smashed out a couple of slick gear changes followed by a heavy right foot!!! That put a massive smile on my face and I thought "Would I miss the manual?" The money saved on the DSG would cover the pano roof that I'd want on a white saloon as I think it sets it off (doubt I'd ever use it, but it looks cool lol):

its an even more interesting discussion down-under as the manual and DSG are the same price !

Use me pano-roof all the time it's even tilted in light rain so don't kid yourself you'll hit the roof lol button all the time

I know the steering is really still the same on the Rs3 but it's still improved over the 18"wheeled S3 l don't mind getting a Rs3 it's the high running costs when used as a daily driver that niggles away at me at times plus l wouldn't get one if it doesn't get a wee makeover?

.....don't listen to all the DSG lag garbage on this forum mate............it's a slick piece of kit.

Mine's really starting to loosen up now, my head nearly went through the back of the headrest the other day just in comfort mode from a kickdown and absolutely lighting fast from a standstill ;)

I don't notice any DSG or turbo lag pinning it off the lights with stage 1. Happily destroy cars in the traffic light GP. Not lost one yet, not even close.

Had an A220 diesel for a couple of days. Lag on that was dangerous!
