goubo stroker gt35 build nears completion

Well I went and got the car this morning and what a job bill has done and what a nice guy too....the car is awesome I honestly can't believe how good it is and the power is just unreal even on map 4 it's real fast but map 1 is just mental fast...to say I'm happy with the car is a understatement :grinning::grinning:

Where about in Scotland are you? Would love to see this monster of a S3 in the flesh

Glad your happy Rob. I not in Scotland atm but look forward to seeing and hearing the car. Enjoy :) x

I'm in Ayrshire...once it's had its oil change and more miles on it and that I'll get it out and show some people it
There's a large percentage of the human population all wanting a glimpse of the beast in the flesh now Rob
:hubbahubba:
I think I'm comming down with stroker fever, :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy: I've heard its expensive, hehe

Enjoy the car Rob it looks awesome

any pics or videos? whats the 0-60 time like in something like this?

I'll never find out the 0-60 as I won't be launching it as to scared for the box lol..only pic I have so far is if the engine bay I'll post it up just now...videos will try get one up sometime

On my GT30 setup I managed a 4.1secs 0-60 (v-box GPS) so I can't see this dropping too much as the change from 1st to second plays a massive part in this due to the 02M's gearing...

I would imagine with a decent launch and a quick change you could prob get this down to high 3's but its really the third and fourth gear pull thats impressive at this power level and videos of that would be rather silly to post :)

I have posted a video on this thread earlier that gives an idea of 2nd > 3rd gear pull ;P

Yeah 3rd and 4th are over in no time at all

It's just fun the way these cars pick up speed with that sort of grunt.
Puts a huge silly grin on your face every time.

My only worry now is breaking the gearbox or transmission with the torque.
But that's another project!

Roughly what rpm in second is 60mph?

:( I'm going to be using a stock head so that's probably a little higher than I'll be revving

eh? stock head? thought you were wanting big power?

I got a brand new, never used head for way too cheap to pass up. I've decided I'm going to use this, just to get the car running with some decent power (I've been collecting parts for over 6 months now!!)

Then 6-8 months down the track I plan on building the head and getting some of your cams + new inlet manifold. I don't have the funds to do it properly now, so I figure I can wait a while and do it properly when I have the money. I'm sure it will still go alright with the stock head, especially with e85

Do it properly once mate no point rushing things only to take it apart again

not how I would do things

Why at 5250rpm is the torque and power not = ?

I'd have the same mentality as Bill on this one. I'm planning for big power down the line. But I'm only buying things that will help the end goal. No point buying bits to use in the interim. Buy right buy once. If you got a brand new head, build it now before it ever goes onto the car. Get it ported now too. From what I've read, if you're going much over 400hp you may need to do so.

May as well do it once correctly. It will save money in the long run

I can understand everyone saying do it right the first time around. But the car should still make a lot of power with the standard head. enough to keep me happy for now.

Plus, the only quiet time I have at work where I can take a few weeks off is July, meaning I could have to wait another 12 months which I'm not too keen on.

The car might make enough power for me the first time around that I don't even bother with building the head. But in reality all its going to cost me is another head gasket and a couple hours of tuning extra than if I did it now.

It'll cost you a bit more than that to be honest.

You'd need to port the head, new valvetrain, plus cams, and then get it running and mapped.....it won't be a few hours, and it will cost more than a gasket or two.

The head has been off my TFSi a few times, and in retrospect I could have saved myself a decent bit of cash(and time) by going the whole hog in the first place.

I'm talking about the extra cost of doing it in stages rather than doing everything now. If I do it now I will still need to buy new valves etc.

If I do it a few months down the track the additional cost I'll have is the gasket and retuning (the cams valves etc need to be brought regardless if I do it now it later).

Hope that makes sense.

I see what you're getting at,but I've done a few things this way either from time constraints,or a set of parts that simply didn't work as billed, and learnt that the other way is the cheapest and best overall.

No doubt it's best to do it all at once.

But the stock small port might make enough power for me to be happy with, because with e85 I'll be able to run a lot of boost which should help negate some of the disadvantages of the small port.

I will be running more boost regardless of the head, due to the fact I'm using e85.

I'm not saying more boost is a solution. Anyway I'll send you an email Bill, I don't want to hijack your thread about this beast!

Well that's it had its 500 mile oil change another 500 to go then it's on fully synth nanodrive...had a good look about when it was on the ramp and as you'd expect from bill one tidy job

That's it! I'm gonna try and run it in as much as possible since I Iive nearer to bill than you do. Try and get 1000 miles before mapping..
