S3 Hatch Ordered

I think i'm going to remove the SD based Sat-Nav. I've got it built in in my current TT and it must get used 5 times a year...

The nag is £495 so i'm now trying to think about what I can add in replacement! You can see my spec in the sig.

I'm thinking, red calipers? A parking assist maybe? I'm not keen on the LED interior lighting.

What would you add with the £495??

I would hate to have a button on the console specifically for Nav and it not work... OCD (or CDO) :)

(of course a small thing like that won't play on your mind will it :))

Ooh, that could be even worse than a blanking plate.

I can't see your signature Vin's via mobile but it's a grey area for any option as pricing goes

I couldn't stand that! That's it, I'm keeping the nav!

Audi called today.... Build week has come forward 3 weeks. Now BW21 :D

interested to know about your choice of alcantara.
I have been thinking about that as well. Is there any downside?
does it affect the resale (assume most people want full leather)
I had alcantara before and quite liked it...

I've always thought Alcantara was something in sports cars, when I bought an Audi TT last year, it came as standard and I much prefer it to leather.

I personally love the Alcantara look, the feel and the warmth on colder days. The only downside I can think of is that it's not so easy to clean as leather if anything is spilled.
I wouldn't think it affects re-sale as the option doesn't cost any less or any more than leather. I would of gone for the Super sports seats but they are only available in full leather :audibash: The diamond stitching with alcantara would look really nice I think.

The S3 doesn't have full leather as the 2 large back panels are velvet, the SS seats are velvet aswell, alcantara trim looks great, but as you say slightly harder to clean

interesting. I had alcantara in my discovery and also liked the feel of it.

though I did not realise even the "leather" seats are not full leather.

have been trying to look at an s3 in local dealers but they seem to be pushing cabro's at the moment.

thks

SS seats 2
Can you show us some pics @jassyo06 ?

l dont have any specific photos of my own seats ,but the image of the SS seats the crossed stitching panels on the backrest are velvet, the same applies to the backrest panels on the normal S3 seats, even with Parade Red leather,l noticed this a year ago when l test drove a S3 with Parade Red leather seats

I'm not sure that my super sports seats have velvet but I will check in the morning and let you know.

What do you mean by velvet? Is that a type of semi-synthetic material or something? Because it's definitely not an alcantara-type finish?

It's synthetic it looks a slightly different shade to the leather, feels rougher than the leather,it's a suedette type of fabric, that Audi names velvet, this was clarified by veeight da mod several weeks ago

The super sport seats are not velvet. They are "full leather"

It's only the standard seats that have two velvet panels on the back rest. You can see if you look carefully that the two sections either side of the back rest is a slightly diffirent texture and shade to the leather middle.

But to clarify super sport seats are definitely not velvet, it's full leather. I have them in my S3 and that's part of the reason I went for them as I did not like the feel of the so called velvet.

??????
The stitched panels are of different texture to the others that's for sure as full leather ???

The quilted part of the seat is a slight diffirent texture to the centre part of the seat but it's still leather.

Went from a TTS, then RS to S3 hatch myself. Agree the hatch is the looker in the S3 range. Doesn't feel as special as the TT though and the driving position in the S3 isn't the greatest, took me ages to find anything remotely comfortable and even now, 18,000 miles on, it still isn't great. That's SS seats in my car BTW. I tried a demo with the standard seats and they were even worse. he S3 in any guise is a pretty bland looking car, anonymous even. Not actually a bad thing I guess. Later on this year I am going to trade my S3. That's a lot earlier than planned, but I've not been that impressed with it, truth be told. So, an RS3 or a TTS and I suspect, it'll be the TTS as the RS3 will probably have the same things I don't like about my S3. Last week I sat in a new TTS - have to admit, it looked very good indeed once you see it in the flesh and when I sat in it, the driving position was night and day better than the S3. If I was ordering a car today, I'd get the TTS over the S3 every time - obviously if you can live with the lack of space in the back of course and the price differential (TTS=ouch)

BTW, had sepang on my RS - agree with comments made that it shows sratches and swirl marks easily. Does look good though and I think suits the S3 hatch really well, not as good as misano though, but I'm biased ;)

Thanks for your comments. I do love the way my TT looks as it's the Amplified black edition with the rear spoiler (Photo below). The girlfriend isn't impressed I'm changing to an S3 either as she loves the 'look' of the TT (That's all she's interested in haha) I have never been keen on the back of the A3 but the S3 is a little better... The S3 is the best car I can get performance wise for the money I have to spend. I did look at the TTRS but second has APR is rubbish and it's the limited space thing again... I did look at the 230bhp new TT but I didn't feel like it was enough.

300bhp from the S3, I can't complain. When I test drove an S3 SB, I didn't find anything uncomfortable with the driving position, that said I do really like the coupe TT shape and low roof. It is a bit of a wolf in sheep's clothing which I like. The TT gets a lot of looks but sounds so Sh!t! The S3 will probably be the other way round!

I guess I will see how long it lasts until I'm bored of it. Hopefully it won't be a couple of months!

What's the big deal with mono pur?

It just looks like leather on the centre console and arm rest to me for £295??

I don't want to start this debate again, but isn't mono pur on the centre console more preferable (to the harder plastic) if you don't want "sprained" kneecaps!!:audibash:
