Allroad Luggage Roof Box Pimp

Just used some car vinyl wrap to pimp my luggage box which was all black. Great stuff to work with, I was going to spray paint it but with the vinyl wrap it was quicker and the results were greats and its not permanent.
I did a test drive to Work and back being 80 miles and returned 51 mpg and I wasn’t watching or driving to be Economical or efficient just driving normally, to which I would normally get 54mpg on the same route day in day. Obviously there is more noise a low hum especially at 80
But nothing annoying. Note, the box was empty on the test run.

Just ordered an A4 Allroad TFSi - not sure what engine you have?

How are you getting on with the roof box? Is that an Aud roof box or from somewhere else with Audi decals added?

Thanks

It's an Audi roof box, which I bought from an Audi dealership. Audi don't do a white box, but they will spray paint it to match your car. But I didn't want an all white box as I thought it would be to much.......

Also, the cost was expensive too. So, I though of just adding some white to it and looked at spraying it myself but choose the Vinyl wrap option as its not permanent. Just adding the white to the side which is a panel attached to the main body, so it sits well on it and gives a neat finish, as such it just broken up the all black colour of the box, which I felt didn't look right all in black or all in white. Took 30 minutes max to do, £10 for the Vinyl off ebay being Glossy type.....

. I got Original descal 'allroad' from Audi supplier £35 for two and the Quattro decals off ebay (not as good as gen ones).
Obviously the Audi rings were already on the box, I just warmed them up with a hair dryer to remove them and applied the vinyl wrap using a small sponge and hair dryer to push the bubbles out and mould it in and over the rim and a Stanley knife to trim it, I stuck the rings back on....

Once I sell the car I can just pull the Vinyl wrap off and the sell the box as a black one again with no damage. Used it 8 times this summer and its great no signs of wear or peeling of the vinyl, fuel consumption isn't that much difference using Audi roof bars.

I tried Thurne Wing bars 9585 which give a lower setting on the car but they pull on the roof rails and I didn't like the pressure they seem to exert, they looked great and were less noisy but in comparison to the Audi bars they weren't as quick to put on or remove. The Auid allroad bars are more secure as well, they are a full clamp system onto the roof rails of the allroad version. Audi code: 8W9071151 .

If you can and you want to carry bike as well as a box, order a toe bar. You can fit a bike rack on the back. The Audi toe bar bike rack is made by Westfalia, so if your order it via Westfalia website or off ebay you will save some money. Also it fold up neatly hold 2 bike or buy the extension and get 3 bikes on it. I've managed to get 4 full MTB on it and drive it over rough tracks with no issues.

Thanks for that help. I haven't bought the roof box yet but did have a look at the Audi boxes in the showroom. I also looked at this model: Hapro Traxer 6.6 roof box, pure gloss white. It seems to have the same quality as the Audi box. Not sure which is the best way to go yet?
