I was just wondering if anyone could tell me where I can buy a Carbonio induction kit for a 1999 A3 1.8T?

I've had a search for one but can only seem to find them for the A4.

They suggest it doesn't fit the 225bhp 1.8t variants (which include 210bhp S3's)... this is because the joiner they supply to connect the carbon fibre tube to the MAF is sized for the smaller A3 type MAF housing. The Leon I worked on with Bill that had the hybrid K03 fitted to it used an S3 MAF housing and we just used a 76mm silicon joiner instead.

I know its each to their own but is a £200 induction kit really going to make £200 worth of difference to a stage 1 S3? I dont think so, and I think that £200 would be better spent on a FMIC.

Depends on what you want I guess. I personally don't want a FMIC on the car but might go for something more than the green cotton filter . . . decisions!

get a carbonio on ebay then u will have more money towards an fmic whenever like

I'd like someone to do some VCDS logs if they can with the standard airbox (with cotton filter) compared to the carbonio. As I proved in one of my other threads I produced an extra 7 lb of torque and 4bhp by just smoothing the standard airbox. When I get a FMIC fitted and have the space to run a 3" airfeed behind the bumper i'll log again and see what gains are made.

I will be running tests and logging stuff between various intake setups (airbox/panel filter, cone filter etc) when Bill has his dyno up and running... will be looking to fabricate a Carbonio type CAI out of alloy bends with a cone filter in the bumper...

Good stuff. Can you get Welly down there to so we can see some results on a stage 1 S3 as most memebers here dont have a 400bhp BT beasty :icon_thumright:

I wonder if we'll ever be able to put the induction kit vs standard airbox debate to bed?!

Looking forward to this greatly, as mentioned in other threads, Paul.

When is the RR meant to be sorted?

I would imagine so... it should be noted that the Carbonio kit won't generally fit an S3 due to the passenger side SMIC which the K03 turbo'd cars don't have... tbh there isn't vast amounts of space even with a FMIC too but will certianly be looking into this with mine and once I have re-routed the pipework on the passenger side I should have a bit more space...

When Bill has the go ahead to move into the new unit. Not too long now hopefully but I suspect not any sooner than the end of July at this rate :(
