hi guys, just a quick question.. i keep noticing that coilpack 1 and 4 appear to keep poping up higher than the others.when i push them down the dont stay there for long.why is this, any ideas?
thanks

This has come up a few times - no real explanation - I guess it's most likely that the engine movement vibrates them so they come up.

They rise up as the rubber seal of the coil pack seals the air around the top of the plug where they fit in... as the engine gets hot, air expands, coil packs move up like a piston...

SEAT Sport fix is to cut a small section out of the rubber ribbing on the side so that the air can expand out through there..

<tuffty/>

just check the plugs are tight, also the ends of them are ok, One of mine used to pop up and it turned out to be the end of the spark plug had come off and welded into coil pack :(

thats my fix not seat sport... seat sport added bolt down plates on top... which simply is'nt req'd when you cut a small slot between the rubber ribs of the coil pack
reason they pop up is they seal a nice trapped pocket of air in there and when that expands it pushes the things up..
fit them when stinking hot and you could imagine they would'nt be as effected.. slot works easy and free
