ahh makes sense now.

It is what I thought they were, only I imagined the tips would have to be a lot larger than that to do it. Obviously not looking by the piccies.

They dont look to bad robby TBH

I mean, who the hell is going to get on their hands and knees and look up your pipes (waits for witty remarks) apart from you !

Save your money and get a proper exhaust when you have the funds imho

it does look quite well, i thought the down turned pipes were more angled. but this looks very nice. i might just do this for the cosmetic look.... i need an sline valance though

Just measured my exhausts and the diameter is 7cm. The one's that Robby bought are 5cm diameter :(

My exhausts look identical to Robby's, strange!

Yours look like mine did. That is why I was curious to how robby fitted his.

The exhausts must be different between 8p models

I think mine are bigger than 5cm (i'll measure them tommorow) and they have bolts which push some clamp type thingies inwards, i removed those as with them on the trims wouldnt fit over the origional trims. I have just used the bolts to hold the trims on and they're held solid

Gee - my exhaust does look identical to yours - maybe someone with the parts catalogue can confirm part numbers?

Thanks, id appreciate that if you'd measure them! I wanna order some! :)

Thanks mate!

Not sure whether I should order them, as the description says 5cm... :detective2: do you reckon they may JUST fit?

i just had my chrome tips fitted on today, will take a pic tomorrow and post, it was the one where you need to take off the down turned pipes and then fit on the chrome ones.
Original audi tips but its looks a little funny... you can see the fitting bolts from a lil distance :ermm:

Looking forward to the pic :)

I bought the same as Robby, just waiting for them to arrive. I'll post pics when (or if) they fit! lol

get the new milly catback you stingy bugggers  as for the bend they can be sorted with a little heat the right sided pipe + some leverage

Can't you swap the bolts with shorter ones that sit almost flush when screwed in?

here are the pics, you can see what i mean about the fixing bolt?

the exhaust looks its hanging a little low but im hoping this will be fixed when i install the S-Line rear bumper in a couple weeks time.

what you think then?

Hmm - are those genuine Audi ones? don't look a good fit do they?

The round bits on the outside, are those the bolt heads or are they where the bolts screw through? if they're the heads then you could get some allen head bolts (similar to these - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/M5-x-20-STAIN..._Material_Nails_Fixing_MJ?hash=item3358c4c00e ) which would fit flusher

that raised part is where the Allen head bolts screw through. so it cannot be flushed down. but i think the exhaust is hanging too low which is why it showing, after i fit the rear S-line bumper i think it will look a little more covered up.

I think these are what I've put on mine. But they don't look good in that photo as the droopy bit of the exhaust has not been taken off so they look pretty bad!

IMO, you need to saw or grind the droopy bit off, then put the trims on at the very edge of where they fit. They do sit further in than you would expect fitting this way but they do look quite OE and the captive thread is almost hidden. They look fine from the rear, it's only when you get closer, that you would expect them to stick out, say about 20mm more - I will try and get a photo up.

Is that about my picture? i have had the droopy bit taken off... and that is whats left of it. from what i can tell the normal Sport bumper is quite curved in at the bottom so this is why it doesn't sit too well with the straight pipes, where the S-Line bumper is more straight thus covering up the bolt heads and overall looking much better.

i like your belt mate
Thanks :icon_thumright:

Here's mine with the Audi stainless tips fitted;

As you can see it looks fine from the rear, they look a little "sunk" in that you would expect closer up but overal acceptable. I may at some point extend them.

lol it was almost bold :tumble:
had it changed before the old bill got hold of me

Doesn't look at all bald in your photo? Looks like there could be about 2 or 3mm left on it!

It's probably because they sit much further in and are straight/aligned in the bumper. Any bend in the internal pipes was ground off and the tail trims fitted so that they sit perfectly straight.

Also, as I took it on an old phone there isn't much detail I suppose, but you don't notice the captive threads unless you bend down and have a look - but I will be grinding them off at some point (where the screws are almost all the way screwed in there is no point with the excess thread sticking out like that).

They arrived this morning... just fitted them and I'm very impressed. Not bad for £18!

Cheers Robby.

Gee - they look better on yours :icon_thumright:

did you take the inserts out and just use the bolts to fix them? did you slide them over the existing trims or remove them 1st?

Yeah, I took the inserts out and just slid them over the standard droopy pipes. One pipe only has 2 screws though, as I couldn't screw the 3rd in unless my car was on a ramp - was too difficult to get to!. They seem secure though, pleased with the result.
