Front bumper Conversion!

Phil........:slap:

You will need new fogs/grills mate.

part numbers

8E0 941 699 C fog light

8E0 941 700 C fog light

8P4 807 681 F fog light grill

8P4 807 682 F fog light grill

AHHH Good point phil.

I foolishly assume that if someone is doing a bumper upgrade, they are going sline/s3 :)

Me bad!

was i just instulted there

and scottie i didnt need new fogs, did need new grills as the single grill ones are slightly longer, same design though

went to audi today an the fella just started getting up all old parts with these part numbers so i told him to just get the fog light grills for me and il take the bumper down on friday and see if they fit!

He started saying that i would need to get the loom aswel and that dont fit them so id have to go and get them fitted which would probs cost £600 all in which put me off so i never ordered the fogs just grills and if i do need to get the loom im just gunna leave the fog lights and get the grills with no fogs, i don't know wtf to do with that loom, if i need to loom it

Audi sales people are poop

I've had my bumper for months and months now.
Lucky enough to find one from ebay, in very good condition, with a grille, in the right colour, from a seller willing to ship.
I went for non s-line as I didn't want to muck about modding the reinforcement bar, buying fogs/etc and swapping the rear bumper as I have rear parking sensors.

Not been so lucky finding a bonnet.
A few have listings that match exactly what I need, but in reality are totally wrong.

I've lost count of the amount of times I've tried to explain to sellers that there are three different bonnets for the 8P.
A lot of them assume it will fit (and list it as fitting) any A3 from 2003-2009.
Yeah the bonnet might fit on to the hinges but things are going to get ugly when closing it!!

And don't even get me started on the true definition of "storage marks".
"Storage marks" do not look like they have been caused by a car with tyreless alloys doing a wheel spin on it!!

I'm close to giving up and selling the bumper, and living with that sinking feeling of looking at the A3 that has pulled up next to mine having one grille, not two. :bye:

The issue with the fog lights is.

Your current ones are H7 fitment bulbs. The sline ones are H11.

Thus you need to change your wiring from a H7 fitment to H11 fitment. No looms necessary.

I belive smthy's dad managed to change it around with no parts from audi, but the parts you need are only cheap anyway.

I'm sure they are listed in mattandrews thread

Let me have a looky

Thanks ye, upto now i have the sline bumper and grill
The parts i need from his thread where

Sline fog each (2) 8E0941699C & 8E0941700C
Fog plugs each (2) 3D0941165A
Fog repair wires (2) 000979244
Sline fog surround each (2) 8P4807681F & 8P4807682F
Sline bonnet 8P4823029B

Can't remember who posted these

it is the fog plugs and repair wires you need to change you current foglight plugs to suit the new s line foglights

Dont give up!!! I'm in hte same boat, except I have the bonnet but no bumper lol! Something will turn up soon!

Sorry about spamming this thread, but...

My fog grills fit my bumper woop!
Just ordered the plugs and repair wires aswel!

But then that fella put me off buying the fog lights, "these parts are from an a4 you know, they mightn't fit"

So to clarify will these fogs "8E0941699C & 8E0941700C" defiently fit with these surrounds "8P4807681F & 8P4807682F"

Thanks!!!

I'm incredibly excited

They are the right ones.

They fit A4s also.

The part numbers I put up are the EXACT ones I put on mine so they will fit.

Now stop listening to the monkey on the parts desk and get them ordered!

I've now got:
Sline bumper
fog grills
fogs
wires
plugs

Just need a bonnet!

HOWEVER

I cant fit these fogs into the surrounds so now i'm scared incase i've got the wrong ones, has anybody got a guide?

I hit the exact same issue - the fogs dont seem to fit into the surrounds... I'd be interested to hear how others have fit them...

the fogs dont fit into the surrounds. They fit to the bumper

The fog lights bolt to the bumper

The fog light covers click onto the bumper(need a good push as they are tight

They do NOT fit onto the fog lights

If you take the fog grill off, the fog light will still be left attached to the grill

I hope that explains it enough

Cheers Scottie, I understood that much I just thought they would sit more comfortably within the shape of the grille - nevermind! At least I know its normal now :)

Car should be painted and back on the road come Thursday/Friday and I'll be fitting the splitter at the weekend - cant wait :D

this might be a silly question but if i have the 'Big Grill' and i want to change the front end to the S-Line bumper and fogs do i also need a new bonnet and grill? i have a sport model currently.

You should only need the bumper you already have the bonnet

and thanks scottie, found somebody with a bonnet gunna see if i can go down on thurs he wants 135 for it!
Any bonnet from a big grill model will fit as long as not 2008 facelift wont it

any bonnet from a single grille model where the model year is < 2008 yes

no, you'd need the S3 bumper. The S3 grille is a bit smaller than the S-line one...

hmmm... that might be a no on the grill then... i dont want to be putting on an S3 bumper as i drive a 2.0 TDI, im not one to lie about the engine:sorry:

theres a couple of s3 bumpers on ebay they make sline badges for the grill too but no hard feelings if you dont want it

front ends are the same between the 3door and sportback

is your sportback sline? what year is it?

its an 05 plate
its not a full sline but it does have alot of the sline interior styling kit on it and i am looking to finish it off...

going to have a think about the S3 bumper

if its not a single grill you will require a bonnet and cutting of your slam panel or replacement of it?

yeah sorry forgot about that you wont require a bonnet then, if its an sline one you will not require timming of the bumper bar or a new one and if you have xenons and sline im sure sarah would be keen on buying your bumper behind you!

no i currently have the normal bumper as mine is a sport model. i want an S-Line bumper but i do have the headlight washer jets and have read that S-Line bumpers with the washer jets are hard to come by but can be cut out.
I want it to end up something like scottie's front end :)

Yeh, Phils right, if its S Line with washer holes, i'd be interested!

Dont we all! lol. Ive been looking for ages and am considering cutting one out, cant be that hard can it lol (famous last words lol) I have all the bits now except the bumper and the S Line with washer jet holes are like hens teeth! Ebay Germany have had some and with some haggling Ive had a few agree to postage but wow they are jumping really high in price! One went for nearly £300!!!!

i might just get a cheaper S-Line bumper and take it to my friend in the garage and ask him to do some magic on it and get the holes cut. He repairs body panels so im sure he can figure out a way to do it for me while he is spraying it to the right colour of my car.
