New boy looking for a remap

Evening all,

Recently bought a 1.8T (150) and i love it, but i need more power! (Dont we all!). I have been reading a few threads on here recently about remaps, and after a few searchs, both here and google, I found a company in Scarborough called ChipBoost. They are currently offering the 1.8T remap for £200 which seems a very resonably priced.

Thing is, after searching on here, I couldnt find any info on them. Has anyone used them? heard any thing about them, good or bad? heres the website http://www.chipboost.com/car/index.html

Never heard of them but if your looking for a power gain with minimum spend there probably a good option, most people i know tend to go with REVO, GIAC etc. Have fun modding :thumbsup:

I've never heard of them and the range they do its hardly as if they specialise in VAG but you pays your monies and take your chances

ChipBoost remapped my S3. Its only a small setup but the bloke knows what hes doing. A few of my friends had their cars done with good results (Skoda Vrs, Audi TT 225) and the price is right so i went there. I basically told him what i wanted and he tailored the software to suit and overall im very impressed.

I first had my AGU 1.8T mapped by some hokey pokey outfit (not to say ChipBoost are!), and that was OK, not great though...

After a few months I decided to spend the money and have a REVO Stage 1 map put on in it's place. The difference was noticable. REVO maps are notoriously agressive and feel really nice to drive with. If I were you I'd think about having a REVO 24HR trial before you make your mind up about this.

I know it's a tired cliché, but you do get what you pay for, however there are bargains to be had out there.

I must say, I've NEVER heard someone have anything bad to say about Revo maps... As Voorhees says, pay your monies and take your chances!

Mines not remapped (yet) but a lot of people recommend R-tech remaps. they're based in Hinckley, Leicester. They are about £200 also. Search google for them, they have some rave reviews.

Thats seconded actually, I forgot about them. I've only heard good things about them also, when I've spoken to them they've always been friendly and helpful!

Thanks for the info all. I have looked into a Revo map, as ive heard excellent things about them. Where can i get the trial that has been mentioned?

My 1.8T is running a Custom Code Phase 1 remap at the moment and its silky smooth and has bags more power than the standard map.

I think the REVO is seen as being a bit more aggressive than the CC, the CC map is a bit more progressive which I think I prefer (Powers spread across the rev range etc).

Which ever one you go for, and I'd suggest a well know mapper rather than an 'unknown' you will have a stack more power than you have as standard.

I'd suggest a Forge 007P DV as well for when you get your map

I have heard that before, but have heard conflicting reports....

I didn't bhother with it, was feeling a bith flush so just bought it. Also, I had to whip the ECU out as it wouldn't do it via the OBD port.... plop!

some AGU's can have the maps loaded via the obd port, some cant. I know when JKM put revo stage 1 on mine they didn't touch the ECU, yet when Storm did CC2 on it, they had to whip it out and bench flash it.

revo definately don't offer the 5 hour trial on any though.

if you want smooth I'd go with CC1 or R-Tech, R-tech are getting a VERY good name at the moment on some other VAG forums.

Revo tends to be fairly peaky, giving a very nice torque surge around 3-4000rpm, but as the turbo is totally maxed out, they tend to feel flat after 4.5k. the truth is it's still far better than standard at top end too, but because of the massive low down spike it feels flatter at high revs.

What made me want to change, was driving a standard car again and being amazed how good it felt at the top end, despite being ultimately slower.

my CC2 map with a ko3S now pulls strongly to 6k

i think its improtant to note what prawn says here. yes the REVO is peakey, however do not think that there is not much more happening throughout these revs. putting your foot down after 4500 revs still puts a smile on my face and suprises a few drivers and its still faster then what a standard car would be doing. As for CC, can;t comment at what its like at these revs as never tested one.
