170 TDI chrome exhaust tip

i am thinking of doing this to my audi! are there any out there on ebay? i have only seen cheap tacky tips at the moment on there.

when removing the old tips , was it nessesery to remove the exhaust from the car ?
and what cutting tool did you find best to use ??
i have the shiney tips just need to remove the old ones

tips or advise on tools to use to remove the old welded on exhaust tips ? any body?

I used a Dremel when I did it. But if I had to do it again I'd get an angle grinder at it.

Just be careful that you only cut into the steel outer tip and the weld and not the actual exhaust pipe.

:iagree: I used an angle grinder... It's a bit tricky but just take your time and you'll be right!.

Cheers guys

did you remove the back box ? or is it safe to do it on the car ?

weather permitting am gonna have a crack at it this weekend

I suppose in an ideal world if you had access to a grease pit you could get under the car with a lamp and the job would take all of 10 mins.

I reversed the back wheels onto a pair of big patio slabs when I did it to make getting under the exhaust a bit easier.

No need to remove anything from the car to do it...

Old thread revival here! lol
Went to my local powerflow dealer and they showed me the tips they had available and thought the 75mm angled were the best and they'll cut and weld them for £80 that sound reasonable?

I'm considering doing this too lol.

Theres a powerflow place near me and if it's £80 for the old tips cut off and the new ones welded on, then that's what I will be doing, as opposed to using tips held on by grub screws.

Yea I didn't fancy tacky ones, they had so much choice but obviously wanted original looking ones, when the tips are in they will be calling me so il let you know how I get on!

Update time... Just got bk from my local powerflow for my tips fitting and in very happy!
Got them to cut the tips off aswell as some of the pipes underneath so can't be seen inside the new tips!

Before

After

Well chuffed with the result and well worth every penny!
What do you guys think?

I did exactly the same mindak! The guys at powerflow were amazing! Looks 100% better
