Has anyone found a suitable LED sidelight that fits in the normal holder, I want to upgrade the sidelights so they match the xenons but don't want the bulb blown lights warning to keep showing.

I used a company on ebay - they supplied a blue bulb which lastest ages but they did eventually pop!

I will try find the link for you - think you need bulb number 501

I bougth a set of those exact ones, tried to fit them yesterday. They dont work in my A3, shows the bulb has blown on the DIS. They wont even turn on. When removing them from the headlight one also fell out of the bulb holder so i now have one rolling about inide my headlight housing!

I'm seriously miffed because now i have to take the bumper off to get the headlight out to fish out the rogue bulb!

I tried the other in my Lupo though and they look great in that! :)

you'll need one or two 150 ohm resistors then mate, not sure where you'd wire them up but there must be somewhere you could solder them on the back of the headlight? I'd imagine there's a guide on here somewhere....

i have the LED side lights and they work fine, but i am also running them DRL s6 LED off of the side lights so its got enough resistance to work. but regarding the loose bulb in ur headlight. get a wire coat hanger through the H7 bulb socket and try to drag the bulb to the back, there is a small gap at the bottom, it happened to me and thats how i got it out!

im assuming i can just solder a resistor in parralel on the bulb? 150ohm definitley work?

i got some 150 ohm resistors from maplins the other day, still yet to try it tho. read that a3/s3 led bulb how to guide

Does anybody know where the best place to solder in the resistors for the LED sidelights? or is soldering it to the bulb the only option? :sign_pics:

I'm not sure but I don't imagine soldering it to the bulb is the best option - you'll likely melt the LED bulb

i think the ones like those get extremly hot! i used used some, similar to that but like a big white block, and there got very very hot. i used 330 Ohm resistors on my interior and number plate light, but i had to use more than one on some of them!

That my friend is a bit of an understatement... lol. I used them inside my hatch to work with the LED number plate lights... recently one blew and I had to replace it. Well after about 6+ months the resistor wasn't gold anymore. It burned off the colour from the casing, came out looking nice and silver. I tried the ones which are wrapped in shrink tubing too. The tubing says it is designed to resist up to 125C... the tubing melted.

I am going to try to install the small 2W 150 ohm ones with each bulb now... as soon as they arrive from Hong Kong. Isn't eBay great...:)

just had bad experience from the ultraleds,

bought a few bulbs on the 30th Nov, nothing turned up ( today is 11th Dec) contacted them a few times, just got ignored

worst shopping experience for many many years. ( I buy 100+ of stuff online every year )

..yup, my experience of customer service from UltraLEDS is crap too, I sent some faulty bulbs back from my TT for refund, they gave me a credit note. Whenever I tried to use the credit note it didn't work, contact eventually just got ignored, won't use them again!

exactly, unbelievable they can get away with a credit note,

I have contacted my credit card company, will get full refund back.

credit card is always handy when things went wrong

there is nothing you can do with rogue website, buying on ebay. you can leave a feedback ( ebay is a rogue website as well)
