Changed the car recently and the new (second hand) one had a pair of fairly new Fullrun Tyres on the front. In the wet they are terrible so I had them swapped to the back but I had to drive that slowly round corners in the wet (nearly lost it on 2 roundabouts at 25mph) that I've got rid of them.

I got a pair of part worn Yokohama's (4mm & 6mm) for £55 and so far they are much better.

What was really worrying is when the Fullruns were taken off the side walls on the inside had started to crack and like I mentioned they weren't very old.

I know they are cheap but I will definitely be avoiding them in the future as the tyres are the most important thing between you and the road.

Just wondered if anyone elase had any experience of these?
 
never heard of them!

what size wheels are you running?

edit: reason I ask is my 18's go on this week and then I'm probably gonna be selling the tyres on my 16's (Hankook Ventus V12's) as I'm putting winter tyres onto the 16" rims.... all still have pretty reasonable tread and have been fine on my A4.... only downside is they're only 205 width, so slightly out of spec (!4 shoudl have 225mm (or 215mm) wide tread.... 235mm on the 18's...

In my job ive seen a lot of fullrun / sunny and other **** makes cracking on the side walls and it always seems to be the inside where you cant see it not good
i am also running Prestivos i didnt fit them
there also **** in the wet
im in the process of getting some new ones but not sure what to try next.
 
Paul, the part worms I got are Yokohama S305 which seem ok and the price new is around £89 fitted so are not expensive but not cheapo either. I have Continentals on the front but they are pricey to replace at £150 each.

On my previous car I had Goodyear Eagle Asymetrics that were £108 each inc vat and fitting and they were excellent. The grip in the wet seemed as good as in the dry, they were quiet and seemed to be wear well. I read quite a few reviews before I bought them and they came out on top on quite a few tyre tests such as this one done by evo magazine:

It's quite a lot of money to part with especially if your buying 4 and it always amazes me how people just go to Kwik fit and have whatever is recommended to them.

I use Jeffries Tyres in Bromsgrove (West Midlands) as they are good on price and really helpful:

I had same issue with Avon ZZ3's on the Front they were death traps.At first I thought it was my Geometry but after I got the 4wheels aligned it was still dodgy. I took them off the front and went with some BCT's - Never ever heard of them but cost £70 each brand new - cheap I know and it was only a temp measure but Foook me these tyres are good. Soon as I hammered it round a roundabout I knew the difrefence straight away. Very good cheap tyres..

I had these on my old ST200, as recommended by a tyre company as a really good budget tyre, but OMG they were really dangerous, especially in the wet, almost understeered off the road a few times........

AVOID THESE at all costs.!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for this i will get some local prices on the goodyears and see how i go if there as good as that in the wet

I had these tryes fitted to my Audi A4 sline when I brought the car 8 months ago. I previously had a BMW and thought the wheel spinning was too much power going to the front wheels but after a few rainy days noticed that something wasn't right I couldn't even corner without losing control of the car even at low speeds. I've since taken the car to a local tyre shop only to be told what the hell was doing having these tyres fitted to a car like this and that they were dangerous. So I went along with it and paid £300 for 2 bridgestones fully fitted with the tracking done. Once they took the Fullruns off I was gobsmacked to see that the inside wall was completely split which could have caused a blow out at any point after only 8 months use (still plenty of tread). I would seriously say how much you value your car yourself and loved ones to put these cheap dangerous tyres on it..

Really usefull thread, I have pirelli P zero 235/40/18's, and need to replace the two fronts at £160 a corner.
I was considering budgets, having just spent £600 on the engine,,,, but not now !!!
 
I have just bought a set of used 19" wheels with fulrun tyres although the tyres look new even stipl have the bobbles on one has split like in the picture above and another has lost its shape on the edge of the tyre,
Ive decided not to bother with them and go get a new package instead.
Personally I would avoid these cheap tyres its the last point of contact between you and the road
 
i have MICHELIN Pilot Sport on the backs part worn with 7m on them 45 each and on the front goodyear excellence again part worn 6.5m on them 45 each as well and can say ill never put cheap ones on my car it had cheap ohs on it when i got it and never again also just found this tyre reviews page this will help all when buying new ones im sure seems very good Tyres by Brand - tyre reviews, the online tyre guide
 
I had the same issue with the SUNEW tires that came with my RS4 reps. The sidewalls on the front ones started to spilt after a couple of months. Swapped the fronts for P-Zero Nero's but still have the SUNEW's on the back. It handles like a drift car in the wet now. These cheap tires should be illegal. They are very dangerous in the wet. I wonder if insurance companies would pay out if you had an accident because of their poor grip levels.
 
fullruns come with 99.999% of wheel & tyre packages - thats worrying!

was momentarily tempted at the price only about £50 for 19" but im so glad i didnt now!

Gone with some nankang ns-2 myself, only seen bad reviews off people with silly powered cars, seem pretty decent for everyday use.. soon find out haha
 
this is true mate as safe as the audis are with all there air bags and abs and esp none of that really matters if the grip is not there ;-)
 
Nankang's are ok if you dont run more than 200 Bhp or 400Nm of torque. I had a full set on me tdi quattro and i had a few brown moments as the big brakes grip much better than the tyres can and they lock-up at times. I found Falkens to be the best budget tyres i've had but they mostly out of stock wherever i ask for ! With tyres you do get what you pay for...

In reply to your review and also unfortunate sad experience of the “FreeRun Tyres”, I was all ready & about to buy a complete set of 4 for My 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee with My Debit Card to Deliver them so that I would only have to get them fitted, But decided to go to My local Car Tyre Garage, And the manager told Me that they were very poor and even especially in the rain of even worse and the My local Car Tyre Garage Manager of 18 years experience in the Tyre Fitting Industry also said that “he wouldn’t recommend putting them on a bicycle, as they are that bad”, as they are also made of a plastic mix, instead of complete rubber, so therefor you wont get the decent or normal road grip that you need & get on a normal quality car tyre, so I eventually bought a full set of discount version of Goodyear tyres at a cost of just £40 more for the full set only and turned out to be great tyres, compared of what you said of your unfortunate experience and as you rightly said that the one most important thing that keeps you and your car safe are a set of tyres that you can trust with your life & other people life’s too and I am just so glad & happy, as by not buying the cheap “FreeRun” tyres of cheap in money & also very Cheap in quality too, as it would cost Me a lot of hassle & money and also would of had to of got them changed back to another brand of Car Tyre, if I had of bought them?, But am so thankful that I didn’t, as definitely would not of wanted to risk them and also of not be able to drive in the rain!!!, But if anyone one else thinks about buying these tyres "FullRun Tyres", then I recommend that you take professional advice from a reputable tyre supplier and also ask various questions about them including of what they are like in different weather conditions too!!!...

Funny this thread has been dug up - I purchased my A4 last month - it has a set of RS6 wheels on - the tyres were new when I purchased the car.
All four were replaced due to cracks being reported on all tyres during the MOT a week previous - these were Fullrun tyres.
The tyres were replaced with the same type.
I will be keeping a close eye on them now!
 
Well - I was under the car last night - one of the tyres has just started to split! - ****** unbelievable.
They have been on the car since February and done just shy of 3000 miles.
 
i am surprised that there aren't more strict rules and regulations that would eradicate **** like this, thats just unbelievable! I'd change all four tyres pronto if i were you

I will be within the next two weeks - due to the size of the tyres on mine (235/35/19) they aint too cheap - especially for a good brand.
Put it this way, the fullruns are £49 a corner and to get a decent brand starts around £100 - going to go for Maxxis MAZ1's I think - they get good reviews.
 
Rule of thumb...
Budgets - ok for pootling around town, minimal high speed use
Mid range - good allrounder -
Premium - if your not paying i.e company car..

Simples..
 
I'm an apprentice mechanic and see this all the time as well as lumps, tread lifting away from the structure, lumps on the sidewall. not just full run tyres, Good Ride, Federal, Ling Long, Sunew, Westlake, Kin Forest,Hi-Fly, Kurbstone just to name a few. never noticed anything in particularly bad about Full run though. I've seen name branded tyres have their structures fail too.not as common though.

When I bought my A4 in December, it had 2 new Wanli tyres on the front probably for the MOT, which it came with 12 months when I picked it up. It had 2 Continental sport contacts on the back which were only just above the tread markers. Drove it back from Colne in Lancashire were I picked it up and the 2 wanlis were vibrating about 65mph, and they had been balanced too. Terrible in the wet but good as anything in the dry. I remember the tyres vibrating on my dad's old A6 he had 4 wanli 195/65/15 put on for the mot because he was selling it soon. Wanli are one of the more widely known chinese brands !

After a month I was contemplating selling the car as I found a mint RS2000 Escort which was what i wanted originally. Even if I didnt sell the car either way I won't be driving on these cheapies long enough to wear them down as I would definatley change the alloys, so I stuck 2 of the cheapest tyres I could get from work at £41 each. "ULTRA BUDGET RADIAL" they were described as, so they arrived at work later on and had been delivered 2 Land Sail LS-988 tyres, look them up, not much to read about as they dont seem to be popular,theres only one review I can find on them and it's a bad'un ! lol . something about they will leave you on the road dead...

They are worse than the Wanli's in the wet, and squeal round bends in the dry ! Apart from the squealing they are fine in the dry and don't get any vibration either. I drive on the motorway everyday as well with no issues, just would advise on taking it easy in wet conditions. I know the cost of tyres far out weighs the cost of your life even if you do plan to swap the wheels or sell the car at some point in the near future but if you take it easy you should be fine, Can't afford any new alloys at the moment so they will have to do

fullrun do come with allmost every wheel&tyre combo on the net, the tires are rubbish though,
dont know why theres so meany of these horrid things stuck to a good set of wheels, i got some rs4 reps for the old b5 a 4 i havd a few years ago, the tyres slipped all over the place and i got a HUGE buldge in the rear passenger side tyre, i got new ones on sharpish, good job too as when the bloke from the garage took the fullrun's off 3 was cracked, and one had the buldge in it, these tyres was only 7 months old!!!!!!!!!!!!

i am now on falcon rubber at the front of my a4 cab, but i do have some budget rubber on the back, there endura? i think, there ok up to now and have been on for 12 months, they came with the new r8 reps i got,,
if nothing else they make a chainge form fullrun crud

Runway Endura ? leave them on the back ! still quite a poor tyre to be honest.

maxxis are made in taiwan mostly. still quite popular, never tried them myself but customers dont seem to have any problems with them

I'm going to be getting some Fuldas next, they're a german make and look a decent tyre. seen some decent prices with free delivery online

My A4 had a set of Maxxis MA P1's (think that's what model they were anyway) when I purchased it, and they were a pretty good all round tyre. Not especially grippy in the dry, but not deadly in the wet either, and cleared through standing water very well.

Ive got Bridgestone Potenza's on it now, had them for nearly 20,000 miles and they're doing really well. They're 235/45/17 and were just over £100 each.

More generally re this thread, I struggle to see how a £50 tyre, especially a 19" one, could be anything other than potential trouble to be honest I think I'd rather source part worn quality tyres if on a budget. I know people worry about them, but when you buy a used car, the tyres on it are used anyway and there are some good reputable places selling them who warranty what they're selling too.

In my experience, budget tyres never seem to last their potential lifespan, and it's definitely one of those situations when the sayings 'false economy' and 'buy cheap, buy twice' are applicable...
 
Well - abit of an update in regards to my Fullrun tyres.

After I last posted on this thread (27th March) I decided to leave the tyres on the car (stupidity?) as money was/is a little tight with trying to move out into a flat.

Over the weekend, I noticed the tyre pressure drop in the front nearside tyre (dropped to 15psi) - I topped up and carried on driving, took it to a tyre outlet yesterday as I thought it was a puncture, turns out the side-wall was split and letting air out!
Bloke advised me not to drive on them as I was in blow-out territory.

I have ordered 4x Maxxis MA-Z1 Victras's for £108/ea - They have a fairly decent name in the tyre world and they get good reviews from mates/tyre websites.
Im looking forward to getting them, as I was quite impressed with the handling of the car on the Fullrun tyres!

The Fullruns were 4 months old and had pretty much 6mm tread all round! - two rears seem fine but the offside-front was starting to crack also.

I will be having the tyres swapped over when the new ones arrive - so will post up some photos.

These fullruns are death-traps / accidents waiting to happen. There should be regulations for tyres being imported to the UK as these are just plain dangerous and put lives at risk.
 
There are some real horror story's on hers about Fullrun tyres.

Unfortunately the previous owner fitted 4 on mine shortly before I bought it.
There now starting to howel the faster I go. I don't exceed 60mph very often so thethe noise is quite low at the moment. As there fairly new I'm reluctant to replace them yet.

As a parts manager and ex mechanic I'm curious to see how bad there actually going to get.

I look forward to reporting how they fair in another 3 months.
 
these tyres seem to come in many different names as stated earlier on, there all ****e! when i got my car it had some tyres that where called 'clear'. They looked pretty much new but lasted 2 weeks before they where cracked. changed to p zero and what a different car to drive. At 235 35 19 though they aint cheap. no road noise,vibration or understeer anymore
 
Tyres are NOT a good place to save money... seems obvious, but they're the thing between your car and the ground, so kind of important!

One silly "at fault" fender bender could cost you your excess and no-claims, so not a decent economic equation, not to mention the risk to loved ones...
 
Well, Im having these fitted after work - some Maxxis MA-Z1, still a cheapish tyre in comparison to some (£108/ea - 235/35/19) but should hopefully be a world apart from the Fullrun rubbish.

I will report back in a few days when they are scrubbed in.

I've used maxxis for about 8 yrs and they've always been spot on, trying to get some myself so I can get rid of the fullrun's that came on my wheels, to be honest tho my fullrun's haven't been as bad as what everyone is saying, I've done 12k on them and they're fine so far, not as good as the maxxis I had on b4 tho
