You would've kept up with him, even if he was in a Lambo... cos you're driving a mighty s3 remember.
Regards the bet on the R6 above, im £100 on the M3 if Glen's riding
i can only speak of my experiences, no biggy that you cant drive your car properly either....
I don't think you can compare an E46 M3 to an S3 of any era.
The M3 will obiliterate an S3 in most cases.
I had a race with on on my R6, and they are darn quick I tell you, and my bike's not slow.
Hahaha...
I personally think you're obtusely overrating the performance of your s3.
An M3 would have you in almost all situations if the driver is worth half his salt.
I have driven both a normal E46 and CSL, and at the time my car was Jabba remapped. And I'm telling you, my S3 won't touch them.
Fair comment based on whats been said already about that car, obviously though you'd need to be up against it to truly understand how quick.....
I have never come up again one in my S3 but a friend of mine got a standard starlet gt turbo, 140 bhp and his car show a VXR Corsa up. Do think they are great little cars for what they are
lol its a very quick little car. 800kg and a 1.3 turbo 140 bhp and about 130lbs. Got a power to weight ratio of about 175 bhp, pulls really well. I was surprised when I first when out in it.
ive done the same thing a mate i have a mate who has an m3 so we had a very good fair run with the same out come, after 100mph the m3 really does leave the s3Mapped S3 against M3 i have tried (a colleague had an S3 mapped when i had my M3) in a straight line it was close up to 100 then the M3 had an advantage. But i think a mapped S3 is better in some circumstances. i.e out of tight corners, bumpy roads etc. M3's struggle getting their power down, which is why i wanted 4wd!
Im ignorant am I?
Your the only person on here that 'obtusely' rates the M3 as having 'obliterating' performance when compared to the S3...
That's interesting... so you've not read any messages others have posted regarding the M3's superior performance over the S3?
Did you also not read that I have infact driven both cars myself? I think that's pretty first hand.
Do you ride a motorbike btw? I take it you don't, because I'm sure you'll be the first to hark on about it by now.
Which means you're making further assumption of things you have no first hand experience of.
If you do ride, then I'm more than happy to meet up with you for a ride, where you can show me how "brilliant" you are, and how "rubbish" I am on two wheels.
Something you need to learn about the forum is that:
- Those who don't like to brag about their skills, doesn't necessary mean their rubbish.
- And ability to brag about how great you are, definitely does not necessarily mean its true.
Truth of the matter is that you drive an S3, and don't like it when others tell you it's not as a quick as another car. If you owned an M3, I'm sure your opinions would be the complete opposite.
I own an S3 myself, not an M3 - and am fine admitting that it is a quicker car.
as it happens i have first hand knowledge of that bike ...

Maybe up to 70 or 80 mph but not after I'd of thought, its still only a 1.3...bit like R5 Turbo, quick on pull away but nothing top end...
My modiefied r5gtt was very quick to 60-70then after that died off the power, that was a 1,4 turbo,
HI ALL,
IAM NEW TO THE SITE BUT FEEL I SHULD ADD MY VOICE. I NOW HAVE AN 2001 AMK S3 WITH FULL STAGE ONE AS (ABOUT 265 BHP) BEFORE I HAD MY AUDI I HAD STARLET GT TURBO WITH 220 BHP RUNNING ON HYBRID TURBO, COILOVERS, BIG BRAKES THE FULL WORKS AND LET ME TELL YOU THE AUDI DOES NOT EVEN COME CLOSE, WITH THE STARLETS LIGHT WEIGHT YOUR GETTING ABOUT 275 BHP PER TON. BUT I DO AGREE THAT TOP END IS A BIT SHYTE DUE TO SHORT GEARING YOU COULD GET LIKE 130-135 MAX IF YOUR LUCKY.
I hate starlet/galanzas....ugly micras.
Nice caps too btw.
Oh I'm sorry. I was working under the logic that comments such as
id suggest you need to learn to ride
if i didnt know id have made the same assumption that your a s**t rider
means that you feel you could do better.
Interesting logic you have going on in that head of yours.
I have given you the opportunity to meet up for a ride and redeem yourself. But you have declined... Enough said.
comment intelligently based upon my experiences watching the sport -
where the R6 is concerned i have friends that own or have owned R6's
(yawn)... Heard it all before...
So the one who was harking on about "first hand experiences" is now turning to what he's seen on TV, and what his friends tell him. Isn't that sweet.
Stop procrastinating. Put your money where your mouth is and buy that R6. I'm looking forward to our bike meet, where you can teach me how to ride.
