S3 vs. Corsa VXR, M3(all models) & R6 :)

You would've kept up with him, even if he was in a Lambo... cos you're driving a mighty s3 remember.

i can only speak of my experiences, no biggy that you cant drive your car properly either.... :haha:

Regards the bet on the R6 above, im £100 on the M3 if Glen's riding

Handbags gentlemen!

I don't think you can compare an E46 M3 to an S3 of any era.
The M3 will obiliterate an S3 in most cases.

I had a race with on on my R6, and they are darn quick I tell you, and my bike's not slow.

Hahaha...
I personally think you're obtusely overrating the performance of your s3.

An M3 would have you in almost all situations if the driver is worth half his salt.
I have driven both a normal E46 and CSL, and at the time my car was Jabba remapped. And I'm telling you, my S3 won't touch them.

Im ignorant am I? :)

Your the only person on here that 'obtusely' rates the M3 as having 'obliterating' performance when compared to the S3....even an M3 owner has given us a decent insight into the performance of his own previous car and you still choose to ignore anything over and above your own experiences....THATS ignorance

first step to learning in life is to use what information you have, add to it with what any info you can get (first hand is best) and then make an intelligent assumption if hard facts aren't available - congratulations, you failed this part of the exam, do not pass go, do not collect £200 and go directly to jail for making a mockery of an R6

My 2p worth, ive driven a few e46's m3 and e36 m3, and the m3 without a doubt is faster than my revo remapped s3, in a straight line it outperfoms mine everytime,

But i see what people are saying about country roads etc, then it would depend upon the drivere tc, as rwd compared to awd etc,but the m3 feels quite alot quicker than mine and ive driven quite a few now, o-60 just a shade under 5 340bhp csl 360bhp, nice cars too,

Back on topic...

I went over to Wolverhapmton today with a lad from work. We took his Corsa VXR Arctic Edition....****** hell its quick!.

T

Fair comment based on whats been said already about that car, obviously though you'd need to be up against it to truly understand how quick.....

I got a very good impression of how fast it is,...I was watching the speedo. He's a pretty tasty driver too...was holding on for most of the drive over

I was literally stunned at how it just kept on going and going and going!. Mad fast for such a little car....Its a right animal!.

I want one now :)

I have never come up again one in my S3 but a friend of mine got a standard starlet gt turbo, 140 bhp and his car show a VXR Corsa up. Do think they are great little cars for what they are

Who was driving the VXR,.....my mother??!.

lol its a very quick little car. 800kg and a 1.3 turbo 140 bhp and about 130lbs. Got a power to weight ratio of about 175 bhp, pulls really well. I was surprised when I first when out in it.

A lad I used to go to college with had one, looked like a right shed and only the little bonnet vent gave it away. They're quick and I'm really suprised to see they can show a VXR a clean set of heels.

I didnt know much about them until I seen his. His is a little lighter than standard as its been stripped out and air con is gone. Its a Uni mate and one of his mates back home bought one recently and he wasnt impressed and said he was pulling away quite comfortable. When he had a ride he said it was to refind and didnt feel that quick (but anything is refinded compared to his car) and seems to take a while to get up to high speed ( based on his experience ). It running about 190 bhp - 185 lbs now

Mapped S3 against M3 i have tried (a colleague had an S3 mapped when i had my M3) in a straight line it was close up to 100 then the M3 had an advantage. But i think a mapped S3 is better in some circumstances. i.e out of tight corners, bumpy roads etc. M3's struggle getting their power down, which is why i wanted 4wd!
ive done the same thing a mate i have a mate who has an m3 so we had a very good fair run with the same out come, after 100mph the m3 really does leave the s3

Im ignorant am I? :)

Your the only person on here that 'obtusely' rates the M3 as having 'obliterating' performance when compared to the S3...

That's interesting... so you've not read any messages others have posted regarding the M3's superior performance over the S3?

Did you also not read that I have infact driven both cars myself? I think that's pretty first hand.

Do you ride a motorbike btw? I take it you don't, because I'm sure you'll be the first to hark on about it by now.
Which means you're making further assumption of things you have no first hand experience of.

If you do ride, then I'm more than happy to meet up with you for a ride, where you can show me how "brilliant" you are, and how "rubbish" I am on two wheels.

Something you need to learn about the forum is that:
- Those who don't like to brag about their skills, doesn't necessary mean their rubbish.
- And ability to brag about how great you are, definitely does not necessarily mean its true.

Truth of the matter is that you drive an S3, and don't like it when others tell you it's not as a quick as another car. If you owned an M3, I'm sure your opinions would be the complete opposite.

I own an S3 myself, not an M3 - and am fine admitting that it is a quicker car.

Oh my life...you got me figured out havent you? I assure you what ever posts i start I will have researched or had first hand experiences before doing so, i am under no disillusion about what this car can do - I cant stand people that post based upon half the facts...sitting there telling us the sky is illuminous green when it is so obviously blue...get a grip, take a deep breath and read the peoples comments who have had a fair fight with the M3 because that stacks together much better than your 'off' the cuff comments.

You may have driven both, but lets face it, what a car feels like in comparison to an actual side by side test.....are totally different scenarios...... two people have been up against a mates M3 whos accounts shouldnt be dismissed (like you seem to have done)

and yes, i have read the whole thread....have you?

and.... if i was a rider then I most probably wouldnt have brought it up unless it was relevant - as it stands i do ride, do i currently own?...no i dont.... is this relevant...no it isn't... you made an assumption that i dont actually know what im talking about where the R6 stands.... if i didnt know id have made the same assumption that your a s**t rider given your SIG 0-100 time 'if you can hold on' compared with the M3's statistics.... as it happens i have first hand knowledge of that bike which i do not feel the need to prove to you - after all, you've hung yourself

Weren't you ever taught that making assumptions makes an *** of you and me? well congratulations cos you've bucked the trend and single handedly took the prize

I would reply to the 'learning about this forum rubbish', but thats exactly what it is 'rubbish' - im getting a subtlety = integrity vibe, im sure it makes sense to you......

Let's keep it clean guys and back on topic, I really don't want to lock this thread when the replies are starting to get personal.

Cheers.

Joe

as it happens i have first hand knowledge of that bike ...

:blahblah1:

Sure you do... Yet more unsubstantiated claims from the animal man.

The offer is still open if you want to come and show me your excellent riding ability.

Sorry about this Jojo, but if you track back this thread it'll be obvious how it all began.

Cheers,
Glen

yup focus on the non entity Glen..... and miss the point entriely

I have never claimed to be able to ride brilliantly, that was another (wait for it) of your assumptions (you make a lot dont you)...... now I could sit here and explain myself but i really dont feel the need to.... yet i fear you will cling to this as you have nothing else left

Back on track..... your M3 comment was totally unfounded - back up what you say or admit that you havent got the faintest clue - feel like im talking to a child now - you are boring me into obscurity

guys guys guys come on now. lets get back on track with this thread. my cousin has just bought an e46 m3 so hopeuflyl soon ill be able to add to this discussion

Oh I'm sorry. I was working under the logic that comments such as
id suggest you need to learn to ride
if i didnt know id have made the same assumption that your a s**t rider

means that you feel you could do better.
Interesting logic you have going on in that head of yours.

I have given you the opportunity to meet up for a ride and redeem yourself. But you have declined... Enough said.

Maybe up to 70 or 80 mph but not after I'd of thought, its still only a 1.3...bit like R5 Turbo, quick on pull away but nothing top end...

Nice change of thread title :icon_thumright:

lol...seemed a little vague before...

My modiefied r5gtt was very quick to 60-70then after that died off the power, that was a 1,4 turbo,

Yeah exactly...

In fact I'd be suprised if the Starlet kept up till 80...

HI ALL,
IAM NEW TO THE SITE BUT FEEL I SHULD ADD MY VOICE. I NOW HAVE AN 2001 AMK S3 WITH FULL STAGE ONE AS (ABOUT 265 BHP) BEFORE I HAD MY AUDI I HAD STARLET GT TURBO WITH 220 BHP RUNNING ON HYBRID TURBO, COILOVERS, BIG BRAKES THE FULL WORKS AND LET ME TELL YOU THE AUDI DOES NOT EVEN COME CLOSE, WITH THE STARLETS LIGHT WEIGHT YOUR GETTING ABOUT 275 BHP PER TON. BUT I DO AGREE THAT TOP END IS A BIT SHYTE DUE TO SHORT GEARING YOU COULD GET LIKE 130-135 MAX IF YOUR LUCKY.

Welcome to the site mate...

Not sure if you read the whole thread but the starlet was compared to a Corsa VXR and starlet in question was running approx 140 bhp, yours running 220bhp would no doubt be quicker...

I hate starlet/galanzas....ugly micras.

Nice caps too btw.

welcome dude. Well im only going by what he has said to me and seen as they are both mates im quite sure they both had a good go at each other. Jap car are very hard to judge. They feel alot quick than they are as refinement doesn't apply to jap car. All I can say is that if anyone ever comes across one, don't expect it to be a walk over even if it standard

Hi, first of all, :sign_welcome: to as.net. :)

Pics of your lovely S3 would be nice. :photo:

And if possible, could you keep the CAPSLOCK off when posting and self moderate with swear words.

Cheers.

There you go again.... going after the easy (yet irrelevant) part of the argument.....easy kill eh? (or so you assume)

Heres a little bit of reality for you - i love F1 and do comment frequently on how certain drivers have infact driven.....just because im no Schumacher doesnt mean i cant comment intelligently based upon my experiences watching the sport - this is the point you are missing and the very reason i feel like im arguing with an adolescent school child - where the R6 is concerned i have friends that own or have owned R6's, hell im considering one myself as my next bike, trust me i can still stand by my comment based upon what i know, and even if i wasnt familiar with that bike......like ive already stated, your sig 0-100 figure assumes that you must be crap if you arent thrashing those M3's so what you say is imaterial.

Anyway chaps sorry to drag this thread down...... starlets, ugly but you just know not to mess:laugh:. I think many jap cars of that era were great cars (except the silvia:puke2:)

(yawn)... Heard it all before...:gaehn:

So the one who was harking on about "first hand experiences" is now turning to what he's seen on TV, and what his friends tell him. Isn't that sweet.:applaus:

Stop procrastinating. Put your money where your mouth is and buy that R6. I'm looking forward to our bike meet, where you can teach me how to ride.

God are you two still continuing this pi$$ing contest?

Well my mate has an R1 & it'll beat both of you anytime!

:)

Glen, im sure you have a BT S3 right? Mine use to leave my mates E46 M3 all day long! without any issues!

So does my R32 :)

Squatt it seems we have resorted to trying to get the last word in now.... gauged by the weakness of the last post:laugh:

Honestly, im sat reading my previous post, it doesnt look complicated...its relatively simples.... i merely used an acronym to explain what this poor chap wasn't getting in the first place...then he pops up to use that situation (created for his benefit) against me - excellent stuff

next week we will learn how to ride without stabilises :keule:
