I'd like to fit one of these,but it looks a bit time consuming and tricky!

Is there anyone on here who'd do it for me?

I can travel during week days,if there's anyone in Yorkshire area? edit: moving down south in a month or so,maybe there's someone down there??
 
Try NHN (Nigel) but I am sure there are others

MarcQuinlivan had a write up on how to retro fit one but he has taken it down - he now admins a vagcom site I think called vagcheck.co.uk but NHN will be along shortly no doubt to comfirm!
 
A seperate starter button seems a backward step to me. My first Mini back in 1966 had a floor mounted starter button. Why have two actions, turn on the ignition and then use a seperate button to start the engine when at the moment we use the same ignition switch for both.
 
I agree i don't see the point ....If you could do a conversion like the new Audi's or BMW's where you put the key block in the dash then push the button then id be up for one , But i don't see the point of turning a key then pressing a button .....

NHN is quite a bit further south than Yorkshire. I agree with 10blazin in that it would be only good if the key was a plug in type
 
Would be even better if you could get it like missus Micra where you just have the key in your pocket and the car registers you got the key
 
My S5 has the advance key which you just need to have in your pocket. Somehow it knows the difference between me pulling the door handle with the key in my pocket and someone else doing it when I am right by the car...
The car also starts off the button with the key in the pocket too..

I did fin that key plus button in the rs4 took getting used to but was quite nice just because it was different, not better really..

really .... i find it amazing that a nissan micra has this feature but to have it in an audi you after spend over 30 k ...Nice touch that though the s5 below thats amazing how the key works and know's the door feature id like that in my car leeve your key in your pocket just climb in a puch the button ..awesome
 
Off topic a little but did you know that the S3 remembers the settings you had the car so if you use the other key, or keys, then the setting would be different. Exactly what settings lm not sure but at a guess it would probably be ac and radio, Would like to know more
 
It is easier than it looks so if you have a bit of skill you can do it yourself.
It took me about 4 hrs to complete but I was extra cautious and had to displace the aux plug under the handbrake. In addition I connected the garage door switch from Cargravo and fit the storage tray under the drivers seat. All in 4 hrs.
There was no need to remove neither the airbag nor the steering wheel, at least not with the flat bottom one and therefore no need for vagcom.
Will post the garage door switch and under seat storage tray later.

Not just the Micra, my moms Suzuki Swift has it. Amazingly the swift also has a MFSW as standard!
 
l was at Alpha Romero last weekend and the Mito has a starter button but l didnt ask about the specs for it. Or was it the Brera S l was in.
 
Then again it doesn't surprise me the japs have alway been ahead on electronic,s .I remember my old Mazda 323 turbo it had everything electric standard at the time and on fords you had to pay extra for the lot sounds familiar... 18 YEARS NOTHINGS CHANGED LOL
 
The idea is to get access to the yellow marked plug to connect the red and yellow wires to the start button. As you can see the steering wheel has not been removed.
Storage tray has been lined to avoid rattles.
Garage door switch was added for the connection of non Homelink remote.
Removing the old console I had to drill a hole under the handbrake to fit the aux plug.

You others: why do i want one? because i like it!!!

Anyone else able to help install this for me? I think VAGCOM is needed for some coding?
 
the starter button is there to make more of a drama about starting it up... it kind of works :drool:
 
The is a chap who has, in the past, offered his services to those that would like it done. Last time it was a group arranged deal for about 5 or 6 cars.
 
Sorry but this has to be the most pointless mod i've seen. What's the point putting a key in, turning it (but not all the way) and then press a button to start the car?

I actually think its a good mod if the key slotted in the dash like new audis or bmws or just get in the car and it recognises the key that would be awesome...... But the only thing that puts me off is turning the key with this ,But for the guys that want it thats fine im not slagging it each to there own i say....
 
Does anyone know where you can buy a keyless ignition for an audi...??? i seen other forums doing group buys ie.. focus st forum
