Well, the weather's a lot better now, so it's kinda now or never.
As some may know, I recently purchased a B5 1,8 20V, as I have a client in Singapore who needs all the components to convert his FWD car from auto to manual. In Singapore, all 1,8 20V / 1,8T FWD cars are auto, one has to move up to quattro to get a 5-speed manual.
I'm commencing the stripdown of engine and transmission this weekend, the PAS rack, pump, resovoir and pipes have been sold, as has the aircon compressor.
I hope to have the lot stripped down tomorrow, and that needs a big yawning hole - to insert an S8 motor and 6-speed box.
I'll be fabricating engine mounts, and may decide not to run a snub mount (the engine mounts are going to be solid aluminium billet).
So, all things being equal, the V8 motor and six speed manual should be in by Sunday evening, I'll have to either borrow or buy a laptop, so I can do the final mapping session before start up.
Reason I don't want it to go into Outlaw straight away is, I'll need to be able to get around for the odd parts, and I'm not keen on Outlaw being laid up due to some unforseen circumstances.
I now have the RS4 aluminium uprights, upper and lower control arms and driveshafts, courtesy of Docurley (thanks buddy). I will be borrowing his B5 RS4 front brake set-up, till I purchase my B7 RS4 set-up.
Will commence picture taking tomorrow, just waiting for the wreckers to come pick up a car I broke, then the fun can commence!
Any of you guys are very welcome to pop down to get your hands dirty, the beers will be on me if you do!
