A3 DSG's

I agree, it can't be a hardware thing.
The hardware is the box itself.
The box just does what it's told by the software.

Just seems odd that you never hear of current DSG owners tweaking the software to get rid of this annoying feature. Its not a mod I've heard of - if it was software surely some of these VAGCOM wizards would have sussed it by now ?

A tuning company (I forget who) did look into this, but it never came to anything.
I would suggest the majority of owners are perfectly happy to accept it the way it is, that's the problem.
I'm aware I'm probably in the minority, although that didn't make it any easier to accept!
No demand = no aftermarket solution.:3sadwalk:

I remember reading an article on an American website about someone trying to modify the DSG software for a GTI to be used for racing, but they found the software very complicated and only had limited success.

It will be interesting to see if there are any behavioural changes when the S-tronic appears in the A4, A5 and A6 later in the year. The current DSG is the one developed by VW for transversely mounted engines hence it's use by Audi is limited to the A3 and the TT.

I'm in that minority for sure.

me too

I can't see the software in the box would be any different at all to the engine ECU - they must talk the same language so its got to be lack of demand :(

It would be nice if it could be made a user selectable choice like so many other things on the A3.

I think I would of given a lot more consideration to DSG/S-Tronic whatever its called these days if once it was in Sport and you were using the paddles it only did as you told it. So if I wanted to go round bouncing the car off the limiter in 1st gear I can do, like you can do in a manual. Not that I do want to do that but you get the point.

You dont want it changing gear mid corner for you

The DSG/S-tronic has obviously been designed to suit the majority of drivers and I for one like it just as it is, but as I said earlier it would be nice if it was user selectable so that the minority can have what they want as well. I must admit my S-tronic has never automatically changed up from 4th to 5th or 5th to 6th because I see not real reason to let the revs get to maximum.
