Well on Saturday night on my way home from Siena I came across a 2.2 Astra and he was going some as we pulled on to the M25 off the A12 heading towards Dartford so I thought I would tag him:superman:.

Anyways he's already up to speed when I do tag (Note I have a boot full of tools with a troy jack extra two legs of suspension plus the brakes and disc) so I have a little to catch up on but I start gaining on him when he puts his foot down pulling on me up to 120 where I start gaining on him. At this point we hit the bridge and slow down ready to pay and we both manage to hit the Auto toll both together and both floor it as the barrier lift (bit like at the horses and the start the race) the road ahead is clear so we are both on it. I pull on him for the first 30-50 :undwech:yard before he pulls me in and takes me :sos:and I’m gutted,:wtf: I just got owned buy an Astra :box:then all I'm thinking is I wish I was not so loaded up it would have been a better match (Sore looser) I turn of down the A2 and cruse home only to find a BMW 525i who wants some but I owned him in no time (Makes me feel a little better, ok it didn’t).

Had the same 'horse race' scenario coming out of the M6 Toll Road booths with a new M3. He actually waited for my barrier to come up as there had been a car infront of mine when he pulled up to his barrier.

I think he was quite upset by the result, but then again, he thought he showing a 265bhp car what a 'real car' could do... shame for him mine's running over 400bhp.

Those M3's are quick, my mate's got one and no way would my standard S4 match it. :(

On a similar story, a ferrari 360 spyder had a go at my mate on the way home from a car show on Sunday. Unfortunately for the Ferrari owner, my mate drives a 500bhp R32 GTR skyline and pushed him up the road.

Unlucky doc, empty the car, hunt him down and take him down any bit of road with a corner, then you'll own him!

I only ever get any fun when my car's ********, now it's running sweet again no one'll even try, godammit! Not even sitrials in his S3, although think his missus had something to do with that, women! Ruin all the fun!

Doc, you sure that was only a 2.2 Astra?

Doesn't seem right to me, they are only 147ish bhp aren't they? Unless of course your trolley jack is huge.

Im running the same sort of power as you I reckon, and I'm finding it hard to think one of those astras are that quick - they will be torquey, but you must be packing around 230 lb/ft??.

Maybe my mind is numb from all this heat (in India atm).

had another two compete front legs with brakes and tool box to add to the mix but the Astra was fast so may be he was packing a little something extra under the bonnet but he pulled to 120 quite strong.

Also remeber that you A4 probably weighs a few hundred pounds unladen than his fag paper Astra.
Last time i got owned it was a ****** VR6, had me good and proper up to over the tin then i starterd to pull it back, but i ran out of runway :)

was it a VXR, they are pretty quick, i thrashed a few round thruxton and they were good fun.

I can't wait to fit my S8 motor.

I had a lot of fun in my old type 85 Coupe quattro.

Last output in 2002, before I sold her, was 426PS / 411lbs-ft from a very re-worked RS2 motor.

With just over 1,300kgs, I smoked many a car, including exotic Italian machinery. :ninja:

Right now, I'm content to cruise the streets, powerful cars pace me, and are curious enough not to want to race, merely wondering what the car is.

We'll see, very soon too. :eyebrows:

I raced one of those 2.2's ages and ages ago and was very shocked as to how quick it was. I got by but didn't do it as quickly as I had expected.

2.2 Vectras with the same engine keep up with highly modified V6 2.5 ones up to the ton, I should know I ditched a 2.5 GSi in favour of a Turbo converted one in a bid to see them off (successfully!)

you think thats bad how about seat tdi 130bhp matched me upto about 85-90mph and i got past him but my god it pushed my baby to limit. now waht have we learnt from this?? AUDIS ARE BIG HEAVY CARS. i didnt want to tell you all this but i had a saxo vtr nearly keep up with me the other day i was pulling away but only by abit!!!!!!!!! it was super modifed on outside so it was a CHAV. so dont know what engine work but stilll..........

and even worse as my sig says my parents corolla will complety kill my car without trying.............................. and civic type rs, all chav cars and will match impreza to a degree

Think about the weight difference that doc had, also there is no quattro bhp loss for the vaux so that power gets straight down, also as said in another post they weight nothing made from old bake bean tins.

I had the pleasure of driving a VW Golf TDI GT Sport in January while my car was being repaired, it only had 360miles on clock and boy o boy was it quick. If I could afford a good quick diesel that car would deffo be it. Also my step dad test drove the new Audi A4 3.0TDI, he said it was the best diesel he ever drove. Tons of power and rapid to 60 for a big diesel car.

Also, seen the most stupid chav car in Carlisle, some wee lad thinks his corsa looks cool on go kart wheels and his white racing stripes. I pointed and laffed at him, sadly tho he thought it would be cool to rev his lil go kart engine and challenged me at some lights, I didnt even need to try.

Fair enough, but I'm still surprised.

Whats the world coming to when common garden astrays (sorry vaux) are strapping on Audis -especially doc's which looks like it could rip your head off and spit down your throat!

No ****** ever came near me when I had big bhp cars, but everyone seems to want a piece of the wee A4.

Had a mini cooper s and the Rx8 that was chasing him almost push me & the mrs off the road on Sunday.

Once the traffic cleared I caught both and passed both (at legal motorway sppeds officer) and I did that both safely and without taking any silly risks.

Doc, your mission is to go forth and destroy all the astras you can find - put em back in their place!

Weight is a killer - my standard Golf 16v (139bhp) was as quick as my standard(ish) A4 tqs (180bhp).
Now the Golf is getting a 2.0 16v following bottom end death, so my poor old Audi is going to feel proper slow... :(

Bloke in his brand new BMW 320D had a go on the way home tonight, dear oh dear, he did try bless him!

I was chasing a boxster s the other day.. after staying right up his **** for a few miles i over took him on a duel carriage way. I felt so pleased i'd got past a porker i couldn't stop smiling but surely he would have the quicker car??
I'm running 195 bhp..had a re-map but apart from that its standard engine wise

better luck next time Doc, i do miss my GTE16V however :eyebrows:

the guy in the porker, prolly didnt change out of 3rd matey lol

I am sure he would beat a mapped A4, i know when i blew my car up, i was racing a merc CLS and it was ****** quick, i didnt have anything on him till 130. I am sure had i not got of the motorway i would have been overtaken at some point, but then it knocked and cut out 1 mile later with no big ends left, lol

I used to beat the normal boxters in my old rover coupe 220 turbo with a trusty bleed valve fitted, back in the good ol' days! Couldn't touch the S's though.
