When I moved house, we had a new high security front door put in (the Police hate them because the battering rams can't get through them, only way in is to ram it with a vehicle). Company called Eurocell do them, awesome product and looks great. We've just had all the windows replaced aswell, so they're now high security aswell. We've got an alarm which is on when we're sleeping as it has sensors on the doors and windows. Short of CCTV, nothing else I can do to secure the house. Basically, they're not getting in the property, so they'll have to do the deed on the drive and it's a modern housing development, so the properties are on top of each other and overlooked, so you've gotta be pretty brave to have a go. Never had any issues with the ST and that was also a 'HOT' car with thefts from OBD quite common.
It's not the point, you shouldn't have to go to this extent, but if i'm away for work, I know the wife is as safe as possible. Plus my brother and parents live less than 1/2 mile away and can be there in less than a minute if needed.
Just don't let it ruin you having a nice car mate, take some steps to beef up the security and that'll hopefully put you and family at ease and feel more comfortable in your new home. I agree it's becoming more common for valued cars, quite scary when someone else is in your home and taking your pride and joy. Makes my blood boil thinking about it.
