Facelift THE NEW AUDI A3 (2016 FACELIFT) – STILL AHEAD OF THE CURVE

On the A3 you get the SmartPhone interface, wireless charging and embedded SIM with unlimited data so you don't need to worry about tethering the car to your SmartPhone or buying another sim card.

Is this definitely the case mate? I was just looking at splitting my data package on my phone but Vodafone want £5 per month to split my 20GB into 15GB and 5GB for the car...

Yes with the tech pack or tech pack advanced you get 36 months paid for included.

Yes, pretty sure you can extend after the 3 years is up by calling Audi UK. Not sure what costs are tho!

I've not got tech pack so enquired how much the subscription to Audi Connect is and was told it's £390 for 36 months. However I was also advised that the free "3 month trial" is likely to last much more than 3 months (possibly into 2017). Seems like some good features and I'll certainly enjoy it while its free, but for 5000 miles a year I don't think it's worth my while paying to keep it when the trial eventually runs out.

On the French Audi web site (http://www.audi.fr) you can't spec a S3 yet however for an A3 you can spec "Ara Blue Crystal" and have access to exclusive colours... Nogaro Blue Pearl is listed as €2,800
Why oh why Audi? Why do we need these completely idiotic differences per market?

Anyway...

Called West London Audi yesterday to ask when they'll have FL A3s in the showroom... In August/September he said... You know first deliveries to customers are a couple of weeks away and that some UK dealerships are already receiving FL A3s I said... Oh really he said... Let me ask a colleague... Yeah August/September that's all we know... :wtf:
Me thinks A3/S3 might not be what their customer demographics are mainly looking for...

I was told July 23rd is the official launch date, so guess that dealers won't offer any test drives before then.

Ara Blue is a fantastic colour, agree.

Eastbourne Audi have them in this week as well, and, as I already stated, I was invited over to test drive one but I am having second thoughts if all they have are diesels with stronic gearboxes. Not really worth the travel over..

Does black pull of the chrome trims? Personally i think the front grille does, its just the side window surrounds that keep me awake at night :tired:

I hope that is what my dealer has !! though I doubt if one will be a 2.0-184.

Doubt it too, anyway the sales person rang and the launch is on friday but they've only a1.4 petrol or diesels, all stronic's. As there is no 2.0l tfsi then there is no point in going over just to look at modified bumbers and headlamps. Sales person said they'd ring when they get a 2.0l in.

The 2.0 -190 TFSI is also one I would like to try to compare it with the 2.0-184 TDI. According to my calculations based on 14k miles for 3 years the TFSI would only work out an extra £341 so nothing much in it.

What mpg figures are you working that out on, stated figures, current fuel costs, and do you include servicing, taking into account manual gearboxes versus stronics and the adblu additives?

Only the basic figures. The mpg is based on what my dealer suggested many years ago and as far as I'm concerned it has worked out about right and that is Combined less 20%. I have not included and AdBlue costs because as far I know the 184 TDI does no use AdBlue. Servicing and maintenance should be the same for both the 184 TDI and 190 TFSI as in my case they will both be wet-clutch s-tronic and quattro. I have also taking in to account RFL and the cost of each car with the options (£4000 worth) I would add to any order.

In your opinion. No an opinion shared by those who use it on a regular basic. Much more useful option than quite a number that are regularly chosen.

The majority of owners don't specify it.....so what does that tell you,if semi autonomous driving is your thing knock yourself out

For useful read boring.....Some people like boring...IMHO ACC is plain boring, had it on a number of hire cars and hate it

my vision of hell....70mph on ACC tailgating a lorry in an s-tronic trying to get best mpg you can with no music or aircon on.............I would rather watch paint dry,

Certainly not the sort of situation I would consider using ACC. My main use is in traffic queues and camera patrolled roadworks etc. I wonder how many people would don't like ACC use normal cruise control.

Wow !

Please can you tell me what spec this is? I'm hoping 2.0tdi or 1.4 COD A3 s-line but it looks more like a S3

It hasn't 4 tail pipes though so either a 2.0 diesel or a petrol sline?

Looks like an A3 Sportback S-Line, most likely 2.0 TDI. The 1.6 TDI would have one exhaust and I think the 1.4 COD would have one too, despite showing with two on the configurator.

If the 1.4 COD has a twin tail pipe is there any other way to tell its the petrol over the diesel - other than the badges ? :)

Rev counter... unless the car is switched off and you've added the Tech Pack Advanced with virtual cockpit :p

Other than sniffing it, following it to the petrol station, looking at the rev counter and I guess the engine noise .... anything else ?

Not at all ..... its helping me confirm I'm probably going to go down the petrol route if they are identical to look at. Saves me nearly £45 a month with the company car online ordering system

Cheers guys :)
