So what next?

So, for the first time in a long time, I have no idea where I am heading for the next cat, although the Jag f pace does look interesting....

Noooooooooo....saw one close up last week and it's different in the same way a Merc GLA is different but its pig ugly from some angles, dont think any of the put a car on steroids have been vey successful, Fiat 500 XL and Mini Paceman spring to mind.

New Ill just add - don't discount the TT.....especially the TTS.

Got to agree new TTS is excellent..kids needing stuff transported to/from uni for next few years means S3 SB is more practical for me for next 4 years. But could be tempted by a facelift S5 or SQ5 while I am waiting.

@jassyo06 you could of written that for me. I couldn't agree more.
I really wanted the Focus RS to be special but it does not appear to be.
Limited colours choice and TBH most will be in the promo blue. Any other colour will just look like an ST.
Interior is neither plush nor sporty. Even a better steering wheel would of helped.

Bang for buck there's not much to knock about the RS but I don't think many will desert the good ship Audi in favour of one...............the only way is up............................................baby!! lol

Dave the MK3 Focus from some angles is not very good looking at all, same can be said about the S3....but to a lesser extent...side on er er???But with the Focus RS....there's no flared wheel arches no menace about it...like the old one, that was Darth Vader on 4 wheels...but it will be a awesome car to drive....that's for sure....but l like a good combo of both looks and drive....residuals on them should be ok???...just too wise now and too old...lol...345 bhp for £34k cant knock it mate....Megane...RS....SEE YA.....

what are other S3/A3 owners on pcp thinking of getting next?

From a car history of an Austin Mini, Alfa 147, Mini Cooper S, Tdi TT and now the S3. This is the first car where I find myself not knowing what to aim for next. The S3 is so practical and ticks all the boxes for me in terms of speed, sound, comfort, looks are ok. Possibly the RS3 next but not keen on sportback's.... Now if Audi brought the A3 Quattro concept to the market I would also be sold! Take my money!! That's what an RS Audi should look like..

Nissan GTR, Jaguar F Type, Porsche Cayman, RS4, Range Rover? All depends on what I need from a car when it comes to chopping the S3 in and of course, what the bank says!

I could perhaps be tempted with the RS

Sorry @jassyo06 ! Each to their own etc etc... I can understand the Sportbacks are the Dad's choice ;) Living in rural North Wales, recent weather - Range Rover is the vehicle to have! Come summer I wouldn't be saying the same. Wouldn't want to sit so high off the road in the daily car either.

@Bristle Hound 4 doors :disrelieved: But this

Car History :
Escorts Mk3 1.6GL
Fiesta Supersport
Escort RS1600I
Sierra XR4X4
Escorts Series 1 Turbo
Subaru WRX
Sierra 3-door RS Cosworth

The above saw me through 1988 - 2001

Subaru Impreza (1994) Prodrive Edition
Subaru Impreza (2000) - still got
Subaru Impreza STI (2007)

Apart from the one I still have the others saw me up to 2013. Since then I have been driving VAG.

So you could say I've been waiting since 2001 for Ford to get back in the RS saddle with 4WD.
But the looks and spec'd up price get very close to a nice spec'd S3 or a used RS3 (come summer 2016)

Glad to see I've generated some conversation without too much abuse of others for different views.
My heart says go back to the TT, but the lack of a usable back seat is a pain. Being old, fat and ugly the hairdresser jokes just bounced off. The mark 2 was a great drive and far more comfortable than the S3. 4WD is a must, so that limits it to the 2l or TTS. The S3 has slowed me down, so would be happy with an oil burner if that had 4WD, but alas no.
The lack of a usable back seat also rules out the A5 as it did when I got the S3
I'm also not that bothered about the outside look (within reason!) as I spend my time on the inside, so that's the focus for me. That's what lets the SQ5 down for me. Agree that the jag f pace is not the prettiest outside, but I do like the inside. Think a test drive is in order
At least I have a couple of years to find something and talk myself out of the TTS!

After the S3 I agree with a lot of people here that the new TTS is a cracking proposition if you don't need the backseats for anything other than an orange or a blind hooker laying across the back. The headroom/seating position is better than my S3....and that's the biggest current dilemma I have moving on. I'm not a harlem globetrotter....6'2".....but with standard sports seats (electric) full lowered my head scrapes the roof especially with morning hair. The RS3 sedan (despite not seeing it yet) is calling to me with its lairy engine/exhaust....but maybe the TTS will keep me and my hairdresser happier :)

Have to agree with you there mate...and no-one likes a good reaming....oh ok then, maybe Simon does :)....but if I was stretching to the RS3 then TTS might be worth considering...taking out the engine/exhaust of course which unfortunately does pull at my heartstrings

Pictures shown look rather nice (How accurate I don't know). Although it will be a more expensive version of an already overpriced car :welcoming:

No idea, sure the pic (Mock up ?) was shown here somewhere. other than that I know nothing. I would assume the same sort of mark up in price from S3 sportback to saloon, albeit with extra standard kit. Mag ride etc and the same issues. Does look splendid though

I am curious to see what the "out the door" price would be.
