Stealer questions following visit

Afraid not. Phone connectivity for calls is always via bluetooth, regardless of whether the phone is connected to the AMI - that's only for media.

Audi used to offer cradles which made a physical connection to the handset for calls but the only real advantage of this was using the sharkfin aerial for better reception. You could still use bluetooth if you preferred and it would switch between the two automatically.

They started to go away from this as providing cradles for new phones became a nightmare. Even the iPhone cradles they provided towards the end warned that they simply provided power and all connectivity was now via bluetooth. Now the cradles have gone altogether.

Now that the phone cradles have been done away with, the Audi phone box preparation gives improved reception quality due to an integrated coupling aerial in the storage compartment.

Martha, you may wish to contact/email the Sales Manager or Head of Business at the dealership to make them aware of the attitude shown to you by their staff, and if no joy then raise it with Audi UK - then at least they have a chance to put things right. But as other people have said just take your business elsewhere to another dealership (not necessarily Audi) that looks after you better.

Can be a problem when sales are going so well for Audi its easier to take their eye of the ball and the experience doesnlt match up to the brand image they are trying to portray.

As with anything being fore armed with your own research prior to entering the dealership is always going to help in these situations, but we shouldn't have to put up with a poor hard sell technique.

Yeah had this on the last model but don't think you can order it in concert with Connect.

Problem with the stealer is tha the management probably endorse the behaviour I experienced. I did see a more senoir person for a small period of time - part of the sales technique I expect and he was no different.

Obviously not all deaelers are like this.

Audi probably don't care so long as sales are good - biut a Panorama programme with secret recording would be very interesting!

About the rear LED's are they on the car for example if they are put on as an option - e.g. on a Sport or is this only if standard e.g. on the Sport?

The rear LED's are only standard if you have Xenon headlights, which are an option on Sport models.

Martha I don't think you've taken on board the advice given to you by members on the forum. Knowledge is power so spend some time reading and digesting the A3/S3 brochure which will answer most of your questions BEFORE you venture into your new dealer. If you had you'd have found the answer to your question about the rear lights.

By the way have you now been to another dealer (PLEASE stop calling them Stealers!) and what reception did you get there? Or are you determined that all Audi dealers are the same? In which case I think we can't help you because ultimately (assuming you do want to buy a car) you'll need to find one you can have a rapport with and can be confident to place an order with.

The brochure is a bit vague on whether you get rear LEDs, if you spec Xenon Plus.

Xenon Plus is standard on S-Line and S3, and it does say in the S-Line and S3 sections of the brochure, that you do get Xenon Plus headlights, and rear LEDs.

But nowhere in the options section (that I could see) does it say, that rear LEDs are part of the Xenon Plus option!

I guess owners of SE's and Sport models, who have spec'd Xenon Plus can say for sure if rear LEDs are included as part of the Xenon Plus option.

Exactly, the Audi brochure is very unclear and poorly written.

Also, when I had mine recently form an Audi garage, I was given two, one was April 2014 the other October 2014, when the current one is December 2014.

Can anyonme confirm that led rear lights cpome wiith xenons, and should I get a Sport with Xenons or is it better vlaue to get an s line with xenons in the price?

You really need someone with a SE or Sport, that has spec'd Xenon Plus as an option to confirm that they also have rear LEDs.

Dave - @h5djr - You've got a Sport with Xenon option?
And also went through the do I buy a sport or S-Line scenario ;)

Because any owner with a S-Line or S3 will reply, yes, they have rear LEDs.

Obviously with the s-line you get much more than just xenons, you get different seats, body kit etc. I was told by my dealer that resale value are better as it's the more desirable spec so will hold its value slightly better offsetting the original extra cost however like I said my dealer said that so make of it what you will.

Guys - thank for your help.

I'm thinking about Sport or Sline. As for Sline I'm not that bothered about the trim/seats sline logo etc, but you do get xenons and probably a better resale. Not sure if an Sline would thereofre be better in the long run than a Sport?

I'm sure you will get better resale with an S Line compared to the same spec Sport or SE, but you're paying about £2100 more to bein with (excluding discounts). If you're not bothered about the difference in exterior and interior styling between an S Line and a Sport then it's probably not worth it. The Xenon lighting pack for Sport includes a lot more than you get as standard on S Line, including the Interior Lighting pack, Light and rain sensor pack and adaptive lights. All for £1250.

If you use the online configurator, select Sport and then select the Xenon Lighting pack you will notice the rear light cluster changes in the generated image to what looks like LEDs. Not 100% sure how accurate it is, but it makes me assume you get rear LEDs

I bought the S Line for it's looks though, IMO it looks a lot more aggressive and sporty. Plus you get a better choice of colours (Daytona Grey) and alloys, standard Sport alloys look naff IMO.

Cheers - I think with a discount I can get an Sline for say approximately £1800 more, not bothered about the s line detailing, would probably delete suspension to sport as thionk would still look low, but presume ride will be a bit crashier with the 18" wheels?

S Line comes with Sport suspension as standard, which I have, so you will be deleting to SE. For me it's not crashy at all, very smooth ride compared to all the other cars I've owned. People that have sat imn the car have all complimented how comfortable it is.

It doesn't look too bad on Sport, but there is a noticeable gap and today I was looking at it from afar and wishing it looked a bit lower. SE suspension is even higher and softer, best to try and test drive them all if you can.

I struggled to get a test drive with S line suspension, guess there's not many around, but I was more than happy with the standard Sport suspension. If I wasn't in such a rush to get the car I think I would have held out to test drive an S Line suspension, maybe next time ;)

I remember my dad had a Nokia cradle in his work van years ago. Don't see cradles anymore!

I personally chose the s line for looks as well, looks a lot more premium.

If your worried about the suspension then degrade to SE. It's only 10mm higher than sport so it's hardly noticeable. But as koder mentioned, I wish it was lower. But s line suspension was a definite no for me, I prefer comfort unless it's a performance car like an S3, then I can get over it

OMG first we have dogs running around in our cars and now it's babies in cradles. Is there no end to it?

Visited aStealer today. Took a test drive.
I was also offered a discount on cars in stock about 8% off price if ready to take early delivery so dealer can meet targets for this month. Is this a good deal.?

8% off stock is poor, Just last week I got 10% off a factory order (two dealers where willing to go that low), in the end I had the paint and fabric protection thrown in for free (I know it's not worth the RRP, but it is worth something and was a nice sweetner)

I had a really good low pressure sales experience, without GAP and Smart insurances forced upon me, The scheme I used in the end was the Costco Auto programme. Carfile will see you with a similar discount if your not a Costco member.

Was also offered upholstery and paint protection is this worth it - perhaps worth it in South Wales where I live?

Many will say not, but for me it all depends on how much you pay, I had a fabric interior (and paid a token fee for paint and fabric protection) on my last car and was unfortunate enough to split a full 5L tub of fence paint in the back of the car, it ran through the gaps and onto the rear seats. To begin with I thought it was a lost cause but as I cleaned it up to my amazement it came up looking really good. Without attempting the same on a car without the fabric protection, I will never know, but I can't help feeling it saved me from having to replace the entire back seat and boot fabric. Regarding the Paint protection you can buy the kits and DIY, but I've always left that sort of thing to other people. the above not withstanding don't pay list for the protection as it's simply a not worth that much. If you can get it for £100-£150 then I think it's a good deal.

Can anyone tell me if the ride height of the s line,I.e. From bumper/ sills to ground is different on the s line compared to the sport Sportback if they have same sport suspension. Realise wheels are different size but maybe the height ground to sill and therefore ground clearance is same for both?

Finally, does the sline with lower profile wheels and sport suspension ride harsher than a sport with sport suspension?

Everybody's 'taste' is different in suspension, ride height, wheel size etc so the best thing to do is find a dealer who has both set ups and have a test drive!! Only you can decide what's best!!:)

Thanks - but it's very difficult if not impossible to find models to the right spec to test drive. In any event surely there must be info somewhere on sport and s line ground clearance difference -if any.
