They will fit your car but I'm not 100% sure if it's plug and play of you need some kufatech adaptors also if the lights you want are bi xenon I'm pretty sure you need to retro fit washer jets. Which may result in a new bumper. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will be along to correct me.

Depends on whether you want to do the full job or just a cheap half job. The Full Job will benefit with Official M.O.T's places passing you because in January there is a new regulation where you have to have Washers and auto levelling for your lights. But doing the half job might not pass you for them Official M.O.T places....unless you can get them to pass you ....depending where u go.

Half Job Involves :

1.kufatech adaptors
2.Coding

Full Job Involves :

1.kufatech adaptors
2.Coding
3. All the Equipment for Washers and Auto levelling .

that why i got drl's sod doing all that probly cost more to retro anyway

oh!! thanks for the reply.
i think the half job seems more attractive coz my car will be 3 years old next november.
what do you mean by coding and how much are the adaptors.

for the 'half job' you need the obvious new headlights, and then this adapter (assuming the pic of 'your car' above is your car on a 09 plate? if its a 10 plate then you would need to choose the correct cable on the right) : KUFATEC GmbH & Co. KG - Xenon/HID Headlights - Adapter- Audi A3 8P & 8PA Facelift

once you have the adapter and the headlights you would then need to refit the new headlights, re-wire in the new adapter and then code the car to accept the headlights... if you need, i can do all this for you :)

So what is the different between DRLS and bi xenon headlights? or they the same?, I want to get similar headlamps to the above of the White A3, I have a 2005 8P and want to convert to s3 front bumper but just wondering if I choose to get the DRL lights, will I need to get the jet washers installed?

Thanks

I did the swap on my old 2011 a3 and to be honest wasn't that hard to do pretty straight forward as long as you have the headlights and kufatec adaptors

if you want those headlights you will need to do a facelift conversion as your 2005 front end is a different shape. Have a search for facelift conversions to find out more about them

Hey thanks for the reply YOLO 8P3, can you tell me what exactly required to do the conversion, im lookin for a s3 bumper baring in mind it has the jet washers holes, so how do the jet washers get installed?

Cheers J

Have a look on my blog (link in sig) where you can see I have had the washers cut out of the sline bumper and after that I also did the conversion. It's easier to just pick up a bumper with the holes precut although I don't think washers are really needed as they can only fail an MOT if washers are installed but faulty.

you need a new front end to start with as the new drls dont go with the old one and to be honest you dont need a s3 front end you can get a s line bumper which also looks good and the lights will go with them too but just alot cheaper...

i didnt bother with the headlight washers or auto leveling as that wouldn be viable to do so i just did the headlight install without them although its not the proper way to do it i still did as i was on a budget and didnt want to spend a arm and a leg doing the full conversion.

Hi

I have a3 sline 8p 09 plate I have normal headlights and I have the bi-xenon to fit I have the adapters but I have no wiring diagram

Can anyone help? Pls

Do you also have the auto levellers and washers which if you don’t may be an issue come mot time.

Hi

I don’t have auto levelling but I really just need these lights working if you could still help

I know this is a very old thread, but I’m just wondering if anyone can help with the part number for the headlight range control unit!? I have retrofitted the bixenon headlights for the A3 8P (2009) I bought a unit off eBay but the kufatec harness won’t fit this unit!? Any ideas please!?

Turns out I have bought the harness for the adaptive headlight but my headlights are not AFS! Anyone has the part number for the AFS range control module? Assuming that it will still do the auto levelling!?

I'm afraid it won't. The AFS lights have a subcanbus connection from the module to each headlight, whereas normal xenon have the range motors wired in. The pinout is slightly different because of this too

Oh great! I’ve done half the installation as well.. what a waste of time and money.. stupid me!

Any chance I can just rewire this cable to the correct plug? And then plug this to the correct control module? Is that possible? I don’t want to spend another 100+ quid to buy the whole cable again!!

It should be possible, I will have to check the wiring, as I have a TT. I didn't realise the kufatec loom was so expensive!

if you can do this i would greatly appreciate it! Yes the kufatec cable is 135euros if you get it from their website (plus any surprise brexit fees which is quite a bit from what ive heard). I hope i can just rewire the cables, luckily if it is possible i have a qualified mechanic who does this sort of things for a friendly price :D still appreciate your help MT-V6

Anyone with any knowledge of the difference in the pins of an adaptive vs non adaptive headlights range control module!?

Hi mate if you don’t have the right control module, you can get a new one (recommending checking ebay) but only certain models of the control module will work with your car. And only certain modules allow for xenons
You will need to check your MHz on your car key when you open it. They can range from
433mhz or 315mhz.
You will also need to save the data of your new CECM I believe and transfer it over to your new one. I’m not 100% if this is the information you’re looking for.

Sorry for the delay. I haven't checked the A3 yet, but does your loom match with this (TT 8J):

Pin 1 > xenon module pin 18
Pin 2 > xenon module pin 19
Pin 3 > vacant
Pin 4 > power from fuse
Pin 5 > earth
Pin 6 > bixenon
Pin 7 > earth
Pin 8 > vacant
Pin 9 > indicator
Pin 10 > side light and DRL
Pin 11 > bixenon shutter
Pin 12 > side light and DRL
Pin 13 > vacant
Pin 14 > earth

Having looked through this, I am not sure if the A3 has bixenons, or whether the LED DRL is also the sidelight

I have retrofitted xenons to my TT and plan to fit AFS at some point and this is why I have gathered the pinouts for this. I can get more detail if needed

For now it would be helpful to know what pins your adaptor loom has in place along with any instructions about where they should be wired to. Then I can confirm how to swap them

Also what year is your A3, as some of the wires differ when the CECM was replaced with the BCM

Hi mate, I’ve installed them and wired them in on my A3 2010 technik. ( I had to buy a new CECM, as my CECM did not support bi xenons)

They work!!! Sort of....
Dipped/main beam and indicators work.
I can’t get the DRL to work even tho it’s been coded, it is saying there is a earthing problem. Don’t understand how.

That’s not the worst thing. My rear tail lights don’t work... there a feed going towards them as the indicators and the break lights work.

Just the lights, reversing light and fog are not working. I have not touched the rear tail lights so that I am puzzled to why these stop working. It has to be something to do with the CECM.
Also my key does not work even though I got the correct frequency CECM. I assume it’s going to need coding to the new CECM.

Sorry for my delay too. Finally managed to figure it out! Unfortunately I had to buy a new harness for the auto levelling because they are totally different. The AFS lights use only 2 cables for each headlight to control it while the standard xenons without the AFS use 4 cables for each headlight. I compared the diagrams on elsawin and the AFS uses 13pins I think and the non AFS uses 19 pins. Hopefully going to finish it on Sunday.

Hi ash I have recently bought new headlights and the adapter and have everything plugged in. They turn on but there keep flashing and are very dim, pluss many things don’t work like indicators or DRL. Would this now be a case of programming and if so I notice you said you could do it? Much appreciated
