Hi there,

I know this has been covered and i did find a thread stating they would fit but the spring rates are different, However i am currently in discussion over a set.

Will i notice any difference with spring rates etc ?? They are AP's by the way

Thanks in advance,

Jim

r32 has over 100KG extra weight up front, quite a difference.

Thankyou for this,

However how much will that effect fitment and what will i notice ?

They will physically fit. However by stiffening up the front more than the back I suspect you will increase understeer and have a less forgiving ride.

Usually you want the back stiffer than the front for better turn in and to dial out understeer.

It wouldn't surprise me if the budget brands don't differentiate between the Mk4 cars (TT/R32/S3)...

Ive looked at a few options and the spring rates are different from s3 to r32.
Surely if the r32 is heavier up front it will be stiffer up front?
And sureluly the manufactuer would have made the model specific parts as best they could? Why make specifically for s3 if the r32 ones are better?

Ap s3 coilover spring weights
Front upto 1040kg
Rear upto 1050kg

R32
Front upto 1110kg
Rear upto 1060 kg

as per what Jim and Daz have said, R32 will be a higher spring rate up front to support the cast iron boat anchor fitted to the R32.

Stiffer front will give increased understeer and less ride compliance.

This is one of the places you dont want to get wrong mate. They would need the extra weight to work the spring and you wont have it. Id imagine it would be crashy and coilovers arent exactly smooth at the best of times.

Do it right do it once!!
Oh how i wish i used my own advice!!

Brill they are the replies i wanted, Cheers chaps !

It's not that i was trying to do anything better or different they had just come up at a decent price second hand so thought why can't they lol !

Back to the drawing board for me then ;) thanks again

Its annoying i know. Who knows they might work ok. But why be the guinea pig.
Its far to costly to do twice

If they're cheap enough it's worth a punt,

New springs for coilovers are cheap as chips irc 25quid a corner when I had mine on the old track car.

Personally I like a harder back end to, use to run 350lb fronts and 500lb rears.

Not got round to even thinking about the s3's setup just yet.

That'd be comfortable. I've got the H&R RSS which are said to be 950lb front and 1150lb rear. It's a stiff ride heh

yeah i looked at this when i bought my setup, so just bought the correct ones, but deciding to sell them now as i got a great price on an level air setup, so i need to shift my BC's if your interested mate, you have a PM :) or any1 else for that matter lol

That's abit extreme lol!

But the car did only weigh in at 725kg so was a hard ride.

Sams Lard **** S3 probably weighs near on 1500kg, so that figures

haha! Yeah and I don't help matters weight wise :(

The H&R RSS are known to not be the best on their own but are up there with the V3's for track work. They've got nicely matched dampers to the spring rate. I'd still rather have the V3s on a road car but these came up at a great price from a guy breaking a TT.
