s-tronic driving tips from audi

That is very interesting and explains the awkward acceleration from rest (P)

That's useful to watch ahead of getting an S-Tronic car, and covers off some of my concern points from the initial test drive.

Surprised they don't put reverse on the same shaft as 2,4,6 for that reason.

Never heard of the reverse to second thing, and I always took off in 1st on my old DSG SEAT (at least it said it was 1st).

This also still doesn't explain why take-off feels slower in S tronic, even when you're already in drive and have just come to a temporary stop.

Reverse may share some of its gearing with first making it more efficient to have them on the same shaft.

Pretty sure 1st and reverse are on the same shaft in most cars and have been for a while??
The vid is informative and I have to say it rings perfect with every situation I've been in. I've noticed the lag as Stephen says though. I've also noticed when reversing, say out of a space and then when going to D it's quite some time and very jerky before you move forward. Btw I don't mean minuets but if you do it in a quick motion and maybe still rolling backward, the car doesn't like it.
Still better to drive than manuals :)
Oh and has anyone stalled doing the whole rolling back start? Is it poss to stall the S Tronic?

Interesting about the Q5, I've noticed mine different when cold. My discovery 3 used to stall if I went from R to D while still rolling. Caught me off guard the 1st time it happened. Not done it with the A3 yet although it felt close a few times.
Thanks also for the shaft info.👍
