Bargain S3 - BE QUICK!

Curtain airbag and rear strut gone, that's not "very light" damage in my book - it's had a good thump.

Some people do buy cat c or d write offs, repair it cosmetically, polish it and then sell as a "good car" to unsuspecting customers for a profit.

Personally if I ever buy a S3 I want to know if it's been abused or just for new.

Those unsuspecting customers could ask for a refund if the seller mislead them about the cars history though. Plus who wouldn't use one of those reg text checks for a few pounds before handing over handfuls of cash!

Btw I'm sure there are many S3s that in your eyes have been 'abused' but are not actually written off or been in any accidents - just because it has unfortunately been written off you can't assume it's been abused. All it takes is being at the wrong place at the wrong time like this chaps car-

Don't get me wrong, I was making a general point. I'm talking in worst case scenario, i have no idea of the history of this one.
As for the HPI checks, yes, people like us who will do that, but the public in general might not be aware what Cat D is. I asked 2 colleagues and they didn't know what Cat vehicles were. As far as I know there is no official checks after a Cat vehicle has been repaired. But I think this might change in the future for safety reasons.

And I take your point, yes, some write off are completely the fault of other drivers, i.e. just unlucky being in the wrong place at the wrong time. This is true for all cars, not just Audis.

My girlfriends first car a KA got writ off in a car park whilst she was at work whole side of the car no idea how they managed to do so much damage on a small car park. Started from the rear quater down the passenger door which wouldn't open front wing totally crushed never found out how or who done it as no CCTV or witnesses!
