Hello, not sure on exact name... I have a yellow s3, and im after something to help keep the colour, and to make the yellow shine more... what would people recommend to get???

also something to get rid of any little black dots which are scattered around arches and back bumper, cheers!

Isn't the yellow lacquered? I thought imola yellow was lacquered over the top in which case you need a machine polish...

The black dots are tar, so look into a tar remover (Tar-X, ObliTARate, Tardis).

You sound like you need an all in one product; something that will nip out slight imperfections, fill minor swirls and add a small amount of protection. In which case, search for AutoFinesse Tripple. The protection (you'll see it as beading) will only last for a few washes as it's designed to be topped with something. If you are a little more into your detailing, look at something easy to apply like Tough Coat, again from AutoFinesse.

Just got confirmation from Welly that imola yellow is a lacquered finish... so basically to get a 'shine' back from that you may need a machine polish to bring it back... depends how bad the finish is at the moment...

I tend to use 3M ultrafina with a finishing pad on a DA if I spot any minor imperfections on mine once a year along with clay bar and Jeff's Werkstat Acrylic protection products...

Clay bar is good for getting rid of tar, then like tufty said...a machine polish. there is plenty of kits out there. auto finesse is good as well as kleenfreaks. there's plenty of ways of restoring it to give it its shine though.

Not quite correct, Joe. A clay bar will drag tar across the surface of your paint, thus marring the finish further. You therefore need to use a tar remover, then an iron remover and then (and only then) use clay to pick up other bonded contaminants, such as tree sap.

You will fine the dull finish is due to spider webbing (tiny scratches all over the paint, taking light in and not releasing it). You can correct by hand (something like GTechniq P1 with a LCC Hand Cut Pad) but it really does require a hell of a lot of work on VAG paints. If this was a Renault forum, you'd probably be OK!

Well worth it chap. Makes the job a hell of a lot easier. The ones mentioned above are all fine. Tardis works a lot faster, but you can only buy 5l metal cans from PolishedBliss (due to H&S), whereas ObliTARate and TarX come in smaller bottles (so lower cost).

Avoid AutoGlym Tar and Glue remover... it's useless!
