For any one who's car is not yet in the UK, the ship African Highway has left Emden on it's way to Grimsby. It should arrive at 15:15 tomorrow (Thursday 13th).
Mine could be on there!!! Build week 7 and Grimsby
I would doubt it. This week is build week 7 and even it was built on Monday it's still got to get loaded on to the train, travel to Emden, be unloaded and then loaded on the ship. But don't worry there will another ship leaving may be tomorrow or in the next few days. At busy times in the UK, like now, ships leave Emden for the UK almost every day.
UPDATED:
The Schelde Highway is at Emden at the moment and will be arriving in Grimsby on Friday (14th) at 17:00 with around another 750 cars!
Had confirmation that my car was built (wk 6) and is on its way to Emden. Not confirmed yet though if it will be ready for 1st March. Hopefully one those car carrying ships are on its way to Emden to pick up in next day or so!
Wife's Q5 is available now, so we are getting it this Friday rather than wait a couple of weeks.
Has anyone been given a choice of registration numbers for their new car? Or is it what the dealer gives you?
There are two of the car carrying ships that Audi and VW use in the port of Emden at the moment so hopefully one will be it's way to Tyne very soon.
yeh i think they are called .... Highway
AFRICAN HIGHWAY - Vehicles carrier: current position and details | IMO 8100985, MMSI 353633000, Callsign 3EOD8 | Registered in Panama - AIS Marine Traffic
others are I think
EMS Highway
Elde Highway
Schedule Highway
id defo wait 2 weeks, hardly long especially as you've already waited months I presume!
Nope ordered three weeks ago, they had one arriving the Monday after exactly to our spec (plus panoramic).
Not bothered about the registration, wife has a private plate going on from 1st registration anyway.
Makes as much as no difference to the potential value in three years time IMO, which is why I'm not bothered by not waiting, much rather just get it ASAP.
Very true. I got my A1 four weeks before the number plate change as they offered me another £1k off the price if took it early (so they could hit a target). Made absolutely no difference on part ex value taking it early. If anything in my case I was better off due to the discount.
Isn't a car registered in February 2014 still a 2014 car? The same as a March 2014 car?
I can understand wanting a 14 plate, but if your on cherished, does it really affect anything?
Yes! Several hundred pounds at resale,

Well changing tack a bit, got my new thule wingbars delivered today ready for my new S3. Nice bits of kit.
Also got my chrome ringed 12v socket plug ready too.
Anyone else been buying things ready for 1st March?
When I was watching, the Sheerness runs seemed to be far less frequent.

true but 2 ships did go into sheerness on 10th Feb
its because us southerners are paupers living in overpriced shoeboxes and looking on in envy at the palaces you lucky northerners live in
Hopefully its stinking of fish in Grimsby(on the outside only!).
Still thinking of ideas to try to pass the time more quickly.
Only 9 working days for me to go now.
Bought roof bars and assembled ready
Bought grit guards for bottom of my two car wash buckets
Bought new sheepskin wash mitt (lucky car!)
So what's everyone else doing to pass the time?!
W***ing furiously to every S3 related video I can find on YouTube. Oh hang on, did I just say that out loud?.....:Flush:
For all you guys waiting for your new cars the following ships are due in to Grimsby today and tomorrow...
African Highway - 13/2/14 - 15:15
Neckar Highway - 14/2/14 - 05:00
Schelde Highway - 14/2/14 - 17:00
Nothing showing as due in to Tyne or Sheerness.
Is ship watching as bad as train spotting???! Spending hours on a forum! Audi have turned me into a nerd (with a cool car) hahaha
