:sm4: Hi guy and gals I've just joined and I'm after a bit of advise, had new fords for years as I used to get ford privilege but no more, anyway I currently have an st3 estate with modded to around 300 bhp but as I've found out its pretty useless having all that power without traction Lol.I took an s3 sportback out a few days ago and loved it ok the only downside I personally found was the lack of feedback through the steering but hey everything else was leagues ahead so so quick,so question's as I've found audi options are insane, these are mine which I think il need as I'm used to them with fords could you please comment which choice you would make, many thanks

Metallic white or monsoon grey?
part anthracite alloys
comfort pack with park plus
interior light pack
folding mirrors
Sd nav or tech pack?
reversing camera
Advanced key
audi sound upgrade ps do you loose bootspace with this option?

Other options I would like but due to cost is audi magnetic ride is this a must? And electric seats but not at £700 lol

White
tech pack (bigger screen, higher res, nice touchpad functions etc)
audi sound upgrade does mean you cant lower the boot floor to the lower setting but you can't do that on a normal s3 anyway as it's Quattro.

I'd add adaptive cruise as it's only £300 when you have the comfort pack and is very very good. I'd take it instead of the reversing camera (gimmick in my view).

If pushing the boat out I'd go for b&o instead of Audi sound and also pano roof on the white looks great.

Welcome.

Suggestions:
Include Tyre pressure warning, hold assist, B&O - if you like sound.
Rethink reversing camera and advanced key to pay for B&O.
Mag ride seems to be of limited popularity in here.
Sports seats seem to be a better choice than electric ones.

Hope this helps

Colour is a very personal choice.

:yes:Cheers itguy didn't realise you couldn't lower the load floor so what's the boot capacity then from 380L? Sounds a strange question but I've got two kids lol,if the tech pack is selected can you then use the hmi for the internet etc from your iphone?

i have Audi upgrade sound system ) and it makes no difference to boot space as base speaker sits inside / flush with the spare wheel (same with b&o)
as itguy says the Quattro does raise the bottom of the boot so the base shelf can't be lowered as non Quattro so that does lose you a bit of space.

:beerchug:Thanks guys I think I can live with a 360 litre boot as its a good shape plus the kids are out of the pushchairs now,hmm decisions advance key does seem expensive but I've just got so used to just having the fob in my pocket and grabbing the door handle and getting in press the button and off,I will be ripping the door handles off lol colour I can't decide my last five fords have been frozen white but I've never really liked grey but with the anthracite alloys it just looks classy, though I do like the estoril blue also,my fords got all that driver assistance stuff but the only thing I do like is the speed sign reconition and speed limiter(lots of safety van spots on all of my roots from home) but cruse control will sort that. How long have you guys been waiting for delivery on these baby's?

There is a few pics of my Glacier S3 on the S3 thread, great colour! Like the Panther and Estoril it changes shade in different light, has got a lovely grey tint to it, Glacier as a description is perfect as it does look like ice at times...

Well.....maybe not then haha...

But, when the weather is dull and cloudy it does have a glacial tinge to it, VERY different to the Ibis white found on the 8P, because that's parked right next to mine at work every day!

It's like S3 porn at my workplace!

Whatever you do try get a firm date from your stealer. Delay Depends on dealer allocation of cars they have going forward. Mine will be 9 months when it arrives next March! Took it up with Audi UK they confirm process. Avoid large dealer chains in Northwest would be my advice, little discount long delays! Follow advice of others and travel to collect if you are starting down the order process.
Oh and seriously consider S-tronic!

:sm4:Right I've been in to the dealers today and I think I've made my mind up on spec(manual, tech pack, light pack, comfort pack with active cruze and front and rear parking, privacy glass, tyre pressure, audi sound and at the moment monsoon grey with the part anthracite alloys)but there's one thing I'm not sure about and the new guy salesman wasn't sure about, what does mono pur actually give you?oh yes and I've been told if I order this week should get an early march delivery, the only other spanner in the works is that bmw rang and offered me a pre-reg 36,000 m135i for £29,000 ie£112 less a month:ohmy:

I'd only take their offer if they'd agree to throw in a free balaclava to wear at all times whilst driving it...

135 is cheaper because of how it looks, the poor quality interior, the fact that it won't get anywhere near its full potential in the wet and won't go anywhere in the snow. Did I mention that it's damn ugly.
There's no denying the performance of the car in the dry though.
You pay your money you make your choices. If the saving is worth the compromise on the above then perhaps it's the car for you.

If getting a SB, please spec the rails.
Without it, it looks like it's missing something.

I too could have had a 135i cheaper but it didn't float my boat when I drove it apart from the noise. Interior quality is awful.

Ref mono.pur - it basically gives you nice leather effect style trim with silver stitching on the door handles and centre console near gear lever. It's really nice and just sets it off.

Thanks guys,I take it without the mono pur it's just plastic? Regards the 1 series I won't be going that way,it just shocked me that they would just throw that sort of discount around, not really keen on the roof rails tbh but that's what makes us individual :)

Don't buy BMW .. Sh*te

It will cost you in the end!

Yep, just plastic without. Get it, you'll love mono.pur. Many people who haven't wish they did.

i was also very concerned at the level of discount and speed of delivery of the BMW. I could have had a factory build in only 3 weeks!!

Wow 3 weeks, that's called an empty order book.

I'm going to disagree with my friend Craig. The rails ruin the lines of the car and are pointless unless you really need to carry stuff on the roof. What's missing is the panoramic sunroof!

Admittedly, i only went with the black rails on mine + pano roof to compensate for the fact this pano roof only goes halfway accross...

Had the pano on my 8P which coevered the full roof black, and in my moment of utter design genius i decided the rails would pathetically attempt to extend the black look to the end of the roof...

Luckily, it paid off....IMO

Lol another must have! Just added mono pur to the list, another thing I've noticed though if you don't have the audi phone box you don't get the "in car wifi" and google maps etc, maybe it's another worthy addition? Just punched all my details into orange wheels resulting in nearly a 3k discount, are these guys any good?

that bmw is a poor deal. its an ugly car thats a little quicker in a straight line thatll probably throw you in a ditch at some point. no doubt as its rwd itll be fun on track.

ivw heard people getting 20% offas they can sell them. also there was and mabe still is a contract hire deal for 27 months + 6 months deposit for 252/ month

also ive driven both and seen an a45. the bmw I didnt like at all and the a45 was silly money where its easy to spend 50k

I thought you get the car wifi with the tech pack

I know you get data through Connect, not basic tech pack, but not sure what phone box has to do with this process. I thought it was just to boost phone signal.

Yep that is what I understand. To get the in car wifi you need the tech pack with connect, not phone box. I decided to order to be able to have the google maps on the screen and advanced traffic. You do need a seperate SIM card for the car though

Hold Assist - for £90 you'd be mad not to.
Mono.pur - not cheap for what it is, but really adds to the interior look.

:yes:Order now gone in to orange wheels told properly late march by dealer thanks guys for your input:kiss:My spec in the end change a little but just couldn't make my mind up lol anyway manual, estoril blue, tech pack, comfort pack with std cruse but parking plus, privacy glass, mono pur, lighting pack, audi sound, tyre pressure, black inlays and part anthracite/polish star alloys.
wanted advanced key, reversing camera and electric seats but just too expensive

Change your order when it gets placed with the dealer and you make contact. I've changed my spec (ie added to it) 5 times!!

On a Black car you hardly see the Pano roof... with or without bars....4th one on its way!! 1x no bars 1x alu 1 x black new S3 Alu,,,

Yep, i wouldn't bother speccing the pano roof on a black car, as i added it mainly for the look (i do use it in the summer)

Don't think i will ever own a black car (too hard to keep clean) but if i did, i would definitely have gone all out chrome contrast with the rails etc...

We have had Pan Roof for years because it brings light in and opens or tilts in appropriate weather conditions.

If you bought it 'for the look' some may consider that rather shallow ? ;-) couldn't you just paint the roof black?

Bought it mainly for the look, as stated above i do use it as much as i can in the summer, but then again we live in the UK so that aint much...

Is it shallow that some people spec rails purely because it "complete's" the look of the car, rather than the practical side of said feature?

My missus likes the Alu roof bars for the look. Not sure black ones on black as we have now work looks wise ... But we have them purely to attach bars/box/sheds etc safely and very practical they are.

Shallow just for looks question.. Matter of taste!
