Hi all
I recently purchased a Miltek turbo back with 100 cell sports cat, de-resonated centre section etc and fitted this yesterday.
At the same time, an Evolution remap was applied to the car (the place that does the fitting also is an ECU calibration/specialist who do some very funky work). I am aware this is a flash map and not a custom-tune but here is my initial reviews.
The car sounds great. Motorway driving isn't much different but as soon as you start to open the car up, it feels great.
We road tested with fuelling gear on and a SnapOn scanner into the ODB port to measure the spark.
First thing I found was the car would launch itself to 4500k, then the boost feels to drop off then it comes back in again.
Annoyingly, when downshifting into this area, the car feels flat - almost choked.
Now I've done about 2k miles on the car as standard and certainly the car is quicker, it just doesn't drive as nice - and thats what I was hoping to get out of the map. I don't mind more power, but I want the drivability to be equally as good.
The lack of mid-range is taking a little getting used to.
NB - I must add - other than the miltek, the car is totally standard. The fuelling figures were definitely in the right areas (I come from heavily modifying cars i.e. 500bhp new shape Mini) and I felt at first there may have been too much ignition advance and the car was raking it back and thus the feeling of the power backing off but the scanner didnt show much if any ******.
Any thoughts? Do I need an air filter/induction to iron this out? Is the turbo generating boost too early and it can't breath quick enough/compressor stall?
I will be getting the car Revo'd / A.N.Other map in due course but wanted any thoughts on the above and if this is how the cars develop and I need to get used to it?
Thanks all!
