Hi all, i just bought a 2008 a6 avant 2.0tdi multitronic special edition. Bought it tuesday had a prang in it on wednesday less than 24 hours. My fault nudged into the back of someone. Had to claim through insurance as the other party wanted to. I'm worried my premium is going to go sky high in February when it comes for renewel. I will be 25 when it comes up for renewal, with now 1 years no claims bonus. Currently paying £700 ish a year, can i expect it to rocket?

Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks

Most likely your price will go up yes but it's is very hard to say for sure or put a figure on it.

I'm worried it's going to double, if that's the case i shall have to change car. Does it drop when you turn 25?

I think, and do not hold me to it, but it may go on how much you have put up for this to happen. Like you pay 250, or 500 or for what ever your insurance is made up of

Don't think it would double and turning 25 will certainly help you. If you worked premiums out by the book, then £700 with assuming 3 years NCB grosses up as £1400 then discount 1 year (30% - some insurers have 35%) NCB = £980 as opposed to the £700 you are paying. You then have to factor in turning 25, etc, so I don't think it will be too bad. There may be other things to consider so no-one can for sure say the price will be this next year as underwriting can change & we would need to know the whole of your profile to provide a quote but it's best to ring a specialist insurer such as ourselves when it's due ;)

Being 25 does not necessarily bring your insurance premium down but it does open you up to more insurers companies will to take on the risk, which can in turn drive the price down.

Many thanks guys, will keep my fingers crossed till renewal date. :)

I was paying tons for an A4 avant with admiral (never use them) and then got three points for speeding which they added £400 at reneal lol. So i went with another company who cover modded cars and it reduced by £760 inc points. work that fker out 0_o

Yeah i'm not keen on them either, when i made the claim my occupation had changed. They have charged me an extra £166 until my renewal is february.

On our scheme, we don't load for a speeding conviction :)

In my experience.. Most insurers do not load for speeding convictions.

Mmm, in your experience maybe but I come across many people who have been loaded for having a speeding conviction with various insurance companies.

I have been loaded for my previous speeding conviction, but it wasn't a lot more, like £40 more, which is a slap on the wrists in my opinion.

The thing is, these offences are so common, a lot of insurers recognise this and do not load unless you are picking up more than one set in a year.
