Right, send me some positive vibes.....am re attaching my ABT front spoiler which decided it didn't like it's job as a snow plough during the Swedish winter. While it's off the road, am going to wrap the rear lights with Oracal 8300 light smoke film ( the same stuff I trialed on the side indicators ) and lastly, am gonnae get jiggy with the old plasti dip on my RS4 19" wheels, radiator grill surround and parts of the front spoiler ( see pic )......that should keep me occupied and give me plenty of time to figure out how to fix those ******' brakes of mine!

Hopefully the front end at least... will look a bit more like this....

NOT MY CAR BY THE WAY!

Look forward to seeing the end result pal :yum:

Day 1 of the tart up...Snag already, managed to f@ck up one of the two lugs on the offside rear lamps.....be careful removing large rear light lens on the wing sides...those lugs appear fragile!

Cheers

I've done that too, all I wanted to do was change a bulb and I ended up with a broken clip :(

Right, managed to have my first attempt with the Oracal 8300. Was a lot trickier than I thought it would be. There are a few little bubbles that I just can't clear but not looking too bad.

Cheers....I f@cked up...didn't use enough lube ( fnrrr fnrrr ) have to do it all again tomorrow!....fortunately Chrstine @ Proffs på skyltar, dekaler och displayprodukter gave me enough extra to allow for balls ups! Wait till Friday when you see it all together...quite excited and a lot cheaper than a round of ales in my local ( which is 10km's away and sh@t!!)

Right finished wrapping the rear lights....F@ckin ell that was tough! The little sections are a doddle, but the big section are a barsteward! Took me about 5 hours all in just to wrap all items. That wrap I am using is great quality and you need it. Because of the curve of the lens you need to stretch it quite a bit...anything cheap will just snap in your hands ....leaving you cursing like a Govan welder! Next is the trimming, and the tomorrow fitting them and hopefully the front spoiler will be ready to spray with ye old plasti dipa
s well as grill surround....TGIF nearly!

Cheers

Got the front spoiler on this time using Sikaflex Marine 291. ****** hell, I hope this time it stays on....
2013 05 24 1331562013 05 24 133208
I also did some plasti dip....but that was a mixed bag...I was pushed for time and I ballsed up the fog light surrounds....the grill surround came out ok.....didn't have time to take pics....kids waiting to be fed.....

All in all reasonable productive day.

Cheers

Love that ABT spoiler!! The lights look well too, go well with the colour of the car.

Did you modify an rs4 grille or did you change the mesh on your SE grille? I'm not a fan of the SE grille on mine

Thanks Mate. No that's a cheapo grill from Mattig, Germany ( 100 quid'ish ). It only fits SE bumpers not S Line unfortunately. Bought it from Dubstop. Great service and it came the Good ole US of A too!

Cheers

Ah cool, I'll check it out, I have an SE anyway.

You should take out the fried eggs in your headlamps :icon_thumright:

Here's Dubstop's page btw. dubstopimports.com

Yeagh I know....but it's a bit of a job and a half.....planning to take the bumper off later in the summer.....may get round to it....but there's so much more I want to do....and I am a mechanical incompetent at the best of times! hahahaha

Cheers for the link.

Haha, i'll probably get the bumper off and not get it back on again! I'm not sure whether to lower it on new springs or get the grille

Lowering my Bus is out of the question here....the roads are sh@t...and the winters are so bad here with snow, the front spoiler is literally a snow plough! I have the Pro Sport package so it's sits a bit lower anyway than standard...( I think ?) The grill would be a lot cheaper and easier to do....the quality is not Audi btw....it's not chromed like your original it's just painted matt silver....most people either plastidip the grill surround or wrap it with vinyl. The quality of the grill imho is worth a 100 quid....and you need to be a fussy ****** to want to ***** 400 quid on an original! I also think it's better quality than anything from FK Automotive.
Oh decisions decisions.....hahahha

I think I shall save for springs and 4 wheel alignment! Although I think once its lowered and the grill is changed I think I will be done modding it...oh no wait, I need a mfsw too!!

Looking great fella, front spoiler looks awesome, love the grill and lights too. Top work bud

Ok, here's a few pics of the outcome of this weeks activities....As mentioned I ballsed up the fog areas using the plasti dip...I will need to retouch the edges of where I sprayed...I rushed it and think I was getting too high on the aerosol fumes! hahaha Apologies for the state of the car, it's high pollen season here and it's pishing doon too....Promise to clean it tomorrow!
Not sure on the lower fog parts...I may remove it except the very lowest part of the ABT spoiler part.

Total cost for light film and plasti dip..50 quid and 9hrs work all in!

Cheers
Allan

i last read this thread when you first posted it up and have just come back to it to see how you have been getting on with your car... wow what a transformation! looks really good. I know there have been so many posts on plasti dip but is it really that easy ? i kind of presume ill be doing our b7 a4 soon, im just a little dubious of using it as ive not used it before and im a little worried about it going beyond the grill because of the rad etc? if u have any tips on how you did yours id be really grateful! :0)

Thanks for the kind words all. @ Sammi, it's a doddle.....you have to clean the areas you want to spray really well...no grease , dirt etc. Check Youtube ...there are lots of "how to" on there. Secret is.... to take your time...do it on a nice warm sunny day pref' in a garage...and shake those cans to f@ck!...What's great about PD is that if you do f@ck it up....you can just peel it off like burnt skin at the beach! You can use thinners to clean up any botched area and then spray over it again.....Lots of thin coats...and allow each one to dry and do plenty of them. Just make sure you mask everything off from the radiator area and the rest is fine. It's not to everyone's taste....I would prefer to wrap the chrome or have it prof' sprayed...but I can't afford it up here...and I love the idea that if I get bored with the look....you just peel it off and ...there you go.

Cheers

Loving the transformation to the front grill, the lights are cool too, a good return on a bit of time and £50 I'd say. Nice work

Looking good Allan, grille looks awesome. Personally I'd remove plastidip as you know I had it on fogs also lasted 2 weeks before I ripped it off, also think it takes the shine off the splitter too mate, just my 2p's of course, if you're happy that's all that counts.
Looks great after a clean too 😎

Cheers Mucker. I am going to keep in on the grill for the time being, I really like the black against the red....I may loose some of the dip from the lower part just at the fog lights....but am just seeing how it goes for now. I know what you mean regarding the splitter too, but let's see how it performs. Here the latest pic after a damn good waxing ( Power System Banana Wax btw ) and a bigger pic of what it looked like last year when I bought it.
