Powder coating OEM Tie bars?

Mine look tired, can see a few rust scabs on them, but it's expected for the age of mine, it's 13 years old!

Few questions really, are the part numbers the same for the top and bottom? I take it they are the same part number and are the same length right? Secondly, would you risk powder coating them for re-using, or buy new ones? I ask this because I'm worried the part has fatigued over time, specifically by the rose joint where they snap. Or should I just buy a pair of new ones?

as long as your rose joints in your hubs are ok and free the tie bars should be fine.
just give them a check for stress fractures anyway

Are they the same top & bottom? When I was under the car last week checking mine I thought I noticed that the ends of the lower bars are different to the upper ones. Best thing is just to get under and have a look JoJo. Oh, and then bung some pics on here so we don't have to check ours!

S3Dave - I was about to ask you for a set of adjustable bars, having just acquired a set of Bilstein B8s and H&R springs. What do you lot recommend instead? I've heard some concerns about the strength of some of the adjustable bars out there.

Need to know if they are the same first mate. I was going to bang the adjustable ones on the top, refurb the top ones and swop with tired bottoms, so I may take some poly bushes off you.

i belive the bottom are slightly longer, not by alot though, and i mean minimal. id powercoat them and replace the bushes as dave says.

PR codes and chassis breaks make it difficult but one type is the same all round, the other type are different top and bottom. Give me a chassis number and i`ll tell you.

Well this is interesting, my car has the same tie bars on top and bottom, later cars I presume, with a later chassis number 8L-Y(mine is 8L-X) have different part numbers for the tie bars!

Basically yours is 8L-X and PR code is 1JF so yeah part number 1J0505323L for both

Eventhough its so easy to get anyones VIN number off the net without it being physically typed out for people to see.
