ASN's Pub

He's going to try and limp it home now. N/A diesel power and auto box! lol
Having had my 8P drop into limp mode a fair bit recently - I do feel for him there. Mine couldn't pull the skin off of a rice pudding - until you restart it. Hopefully changing the Solenoid block has got rid of my problem.

Stop wasting your money on arch liners then.. That's not even a good way to divert your money!

Afternoon mofo's, finally installed all my energy saving light tubes and fixings at the shop this morning, totally fubar'd! Suppose to save me 70% electric in the long run, this better work! lol

Batteries in my 10yr old maglight was drained also, so taking it apart revealed leaking battery acid, which means time to invest in a new one! Gutted, it was a handy weapo.... I mean light to have around!

My mother's birthday today also, so having dinner later on, Happy Birthday Mum! :)

Jojo what bulbs have you got? Are they replacements for normal fluorescent tubes? I need something for my garage and was researching LED replacements which will give me a bit more light too as it's not very well lit in my garage.

High frequency tubes, I changed he whole fitting/case, it doesn't use starters anymore, so saves energy there, and they get brighter as they warm up! The tube are half the diameter(16mm) and brighter than before. LEDs are more economical still, but the price of replacements are ridiculous!

Any linkys to what you have just bought?

Afternoon boys happy birthday jojo's mom lol, if your after better lighting Neil go for high frequency fittings about £20-£30 with colour 870 tubes there called daylight tubes they give off a very bright whitish light, I fit them for the old dears round where I work so they can do there knitting and crosswords so you would fit in quite well with those lol

Give me some more info mate.

Are they direct replacements for flo tubes? Do they use less energy then normal tubes? I've got 3 fittings in my garage at the moment.

Yep you can just change the tubes if you want I have one in my kitchen it's a 5ft tube my fitting is a standard fitting with a starter, it's not a high frequency fitting still works though. The high frequency ones use a bit less energy but nothing to shout about and LED fittings are bright but not as bright as these tubes and they cost the earth, there also faults with them overheating and cutting out. The tubes i use are actually called ACTIVA 172's not 870's there about £6.75 per tube and make my kitchen look like operating theatre how bright they are but it's the fact that there such a white daylight effect rather than the yellow tone normal tubes give off.

Though I'd better come and have a look what all the fuss is about this ASN pub now my rear windows dressed with a pub crew sticker lol.

If its the garage I saw in your photos it will make a huge difference with these tubes

Sounds like a plan mate. If I can brighten up my garage it'll be mint for detailing in ;)

How can I check my current fittings to see if I need starters? I'm clueless with all this shizzle.

Yeah, I'm kind of just after direct replacement tubes! Can afford that much at the moment.

You can use your standard fittings, go to a specific lighting shop and ask for white light tubes, they usually have a 'W' or something similar in the part number. They are usually the same wattage, but a lot brighter!

You don't need to change anything Neil just swap the tubes straight over, if they have starters the little round things on the side then there normal fittings if they don't have starters there high frequency that's the difference, when I fit these tubes I replace the starters at the same time if they have them, just preventative maintenance that's all.

Let me know the size of the tubes and I can grab some, if you can wait till AITP can bring them with me.

Ok so I need to check for the little round nob thing on the side? I'll check tonight and report back.

How much are the starters? I might as well replace them at the same time.

The starters the round thing on the side doesn't matter if you have one or not though but if you do il bring some with me.
