Looks alright. 7.5" variety? The gf has those on the Leon. Lighter than my a4 wheels :(

Yes matey. These are still quite a heavy wheel. The plan is to get some that are around 8-9kg per wheel.

They feel so much nicer then the 18s. Not as harsh and the steering feel is much better without PCD adapters. They might not look as nice but I'm happy with them.

they didn't come off Troopas car did they Westy?

Looks nice, so different for just a change of wheel colour!

No they didn't mate. I bough them from another ASN member who had just bought a TT withthem on and didn't like them.

A set of wheels really changes the look of a car. That pic above doesn't really do them justice as it's on uneven ground and I'd only just lowered the rear from the jack so it was a bit high.

wheels look good matey, the colour suits the car way more than I expected to.... goodbye Avus III leader :bye:

ooooh fight fight fight.

Keep it out and anything else that doesnt matter..weight loss ftw!

Need the retarded ECU in our early cars. I pulled the carbon cannister sensor off and left the open plug expecting the light to be on like everyone said it would. Nope nothing lol. Just have an airbag light staring at me currently from no rear belts and bucket seat. I thought it would always annoy me before i did it all but you get used to it and zone it out of your field of vision.

Thing is with the CEL is you want it to be off so that if you get a real issue you'll know about it.

You'll need to sort the airbag light or you wont get an MOT!

haha no worries. Still need to come see you to make use of your ultrasonic cleaner :p

Westy.
Sorry to go slightly off topic on ur thread but not sure where else to throw it.
Ur ultrasonic cleaner. Is it a specialist piece or can u just use any available (subject to bath size) an what solution do you use when cleaning engine components?

Cheers mate.

You can use pretty much any available mate. I think the Silver Fox uses one from Maplins. I think he used the accurate measure of '1 squirt of Fairy Liquid' when he cleaned my FPR and injectors.

Correct young man. Maplin do one for around £25. It's meant for jewlery cleaning but it'll clean anything, including injectors. You can buy some solution from maplin too which is just a couple quid.

fairly liquid is bad news! it's corrosive and will eat the rubber in the seals.

Use James SeaClean solution, or just warm water :)

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm planning on picking one up for cleaning the injectors :)
Guess it will do anything providing it has no electric circuits etc on it. Or can I get a alcohol based solution to do them?

Cheers all!

Up to 414 miles now and so far so good. Been driving it quite hard this weekend and I have been noticing the power tailing off when the wmi kicks in. It's not every time but it noticeable. I'm currently running the smallest nozzle and it's only running at half pump on 12psi upwards.

Apart from that, all is well.

This is an interesting subject to me.
I fitted my pump in the engine bay on the firewall behind the tip, going to wire up the controller in a couple of days.
Do you run plain water or w/m mix?
I'm going to run mine just with water and small nozzle to begin with.

Westy you swine! I've just spent 2.5 hours reading this thread. Was only meant to be a quick 30 on the sofa with the iPad! Great thread!

Do you sub out your parts man? I've just bought an S3 and need to give it a service and new brakes front and rear!

keep up the good work dude

Dave

If you live close to Bedford then i am the parts man. If not then you`ll have to find your own im affraid :p

Aaah thanks Jason. I am down in Kent unfortunately.

Do people usually stick to OEM audi brake parts? or go elsewhere? std S3 sizes for the time being. Seen some Brembo max discs for the front at £130. Mot sure on pad choice really... rears are easy from ebay at £50 for discs and pads... Fronts I know are more important

Then there's the oil servicing. Any OEM dealer must haves? (filters i'd imagine)

Without wanting to spam westys thread too much, disks are much of a muchness. It's pads that are important. I run pagid discs (ECP have 30% off at the moment) and ferodo pads (i have a set that i dont need also :sign_plug: ) and rbf600 brake fluid.
Also got servicing parts from ECP, as I don't think that their is anything in the basic service that is better from a dealer then anywhere else..

The AEM kits recommend you dont fit the pumps in the engine bay to protect them from the weather (granted it's better in Aus) and heat.

I was running just water but have a little meth in there now too.

Before I did the engine rebuild I was getting a slight power dip when the WMI kicked in but it was difficult to tell whether it was the WMI or the slipping clutch. Now I have a new clutch I'm sure it can only be the WMI. I need to see what's happening on the dyno.

which nozzle?
start spray psi later and see

Although very dirty I thought I'd grab a pic of the car with the TT rims on. I don't think it looks too bad:

Needs some pro race 1.2's on it or some ultraleggera :), looks good though matey.

DP is now sorted :yahoo: no more vibrating.

Had to use some washers onthe hanging bracket to lift the DP 1mm then use a jubilee clip to pull the DP over to the passenger side slightly. Went out for a drive and it didn't rattle once.

I didn't have my laptop with me to do any logging but I did try a few blast with wmi plugged and some with the pump unplugged. I can feel the car is slightly hesitant with the wmi running! Very strange.

I'll drop the oil if I get time this week then I'll do some proper VCDS logging and add a bit more boost and some timing.

I have spent the last few days reading your thread, amazing effort and a lot of information in it towards this car. Can I ask if you have the part number for that R8 filler cap? I'm going to clean up my rocker cover and would like to add that cap as a finishing touch, thank you.

Thanks mate. A fair amount of cash and effort has gone into the old girl.

I'm not sure what the part number is as my friendly parts advisor ordered it for me. I'm sure if you google it you'll find an answer as they're quite popular on the VAG scene.
