around once a month the remote locking on my b6 stops working, i have to open the door with the key then turn the ignition on and then it will work fine for weeks.
since yesterday it has done it twice so i think its getting worse.
i have 2 keys with a new battery in one of them but it makes no difference which key i use.
anybody have a fix for this ?

no help but mine has done this twice in the last 6 months ?

i have read something about a broken wire in the drivers door being to blame but not in any detail.
mine used to be around once a month until a few days ago where it happened around 3 times in 2 days ! today it has worked perfectly everytime.

if the key-fob is at fault, use the service fom the RAC which covers you for key-fob/imobilisers when you have the Reward or Premium account from Santander. no excess to pay and the fault is fixed mucho-cheapness.

mine does this once every few weeks and ive repaired my door wiring due to another issue but still the fob playes up.....new battery fitted etc

anyone help us ? this seems like quite a common problem on the b6.
its going to get worse, mine used to do it around once a month now its every other day.

Ive had the same probs with my a4 , was driving me mad, locked the car put key in my pocket and everytime took key out it wouldnt work and had to use key and do a manual reset in ignition which would sort it, tried new battery, door looms fine, vag com wes reporting a key signal fault, took key fob apart again and cleaned everything up and bent the battery terminals a little more to ensure good contact and its been working 100% up till now

ive been having probs recently with mine its done it a few times on the missus and about 4 times today!!

will try the battery thing see if it works

Ok I tackled the issue of my paggered key fob today... It was a little scary but I done it.

The fob had been playing up at least 4-5 times a day.

Basically bought a key case off eBay..

Swapped all the internals out of my old key (battery, circuit board, key blade, battery and immobiliser) the circuit board was a ***** to get out but got it in the end and now I have a nice new shiny key :)

I wish I had gone for the b7 fob now but never mind I am happy with it looking all new and working fine so far.

i forgot about this till now

i bent the prongs up for the battery contacts and all has been well since

fitted 3 weeks ago another new battery and also cleaned and rebent the prongs to hold the battery tighter and touch wood it seems all ok again

This is what I have just stated happening!
I will clean the contacts and see if it happens again

i think after time of them being dropped and stuff the force on the prongs get weaker ive bent mine a little to tighten the battery up and touch wood a few months it has not played up...
