Has anyone managed to code their taillights to come on along with their DRL's on their 3dr MY10 A3 or S3? The default on my MY10 S3 is the US setting, ie DRL's only, without rear lights. I have searched, but can only find the codings to activate this for the SB, not the 3dr. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Gordy,

My Dad bought VCDS from Gendan a few months back for his car and has never used it, so I thought I'd have a play with it. Have done a couple of full scans and coded the horn chirp when locking and TPMS (only VCDS coding needed for my ABS pump) so far. Hoping to do cruise at some point too. How you getting on with yours? xx

I have done some scanning and really that is it, i did a force regen but im finding it alittle dificult to operate and getting the time to sit down and really have a good read and plan about is not really there at the moment.

Im sure one day it will fall in to place, its nerve racking

Hi Paulie,

I'm looking to do the same as well. Have you found the coding for a SB, if so can you share?

Thanks

should be central electics, long coding, byte 18 your car should be 2B for usa style drl, if it is then change that byte to 2C to turn on the rear lights as well with the drl

Hey Silky, I think the coding Dunk has mentioned is for the Sportback as I had tried this before and when I switched on my ignition I got a bulb out error on my DIS (showing rear lights). So as Dunk says, Central Electrics, long coding, byte 18, change from 2B to 2C and it should work for you. Still don't know how to get it on the 3dr though :(.

Try playing with the hex coding, at your risk but make notes of before & test, will take a while possibly, but hey thats what its all about.

what coding do you already have for byte 18 on the 3-door car?

You havnt missed much fella, trust me lol.

Here's my long coding Dunk, Byte 18 is 25.

If an A3/S3 3dr owner in Scandinavia could let me know what coding they have for their Central Electrics unit, Byte 18, that would be a massive help!

Just tried this guys, and my coding only has 2A and 2B, no 2C :( No rear DRLs for me :(

Hmm, that's really disappointing, Silky :(. This is something I would really like to have, but don't really want to mess about too much with it incase it goes Pete Tong, lol.

try coding byte 18 to 26 or 24 if that doesnt work

it cant do any harm - you can easily change back to 25, you may not have a pull-down choice in vcds, but can directly edit the 2 digit number in the box then save the results

Thanks very much Dunk, will give it a go tomorrow and report back. As you say, it won't do any harm to give it a go and if need be change it back to 25. :icon_thumright:

Dunk, thank you so much! I changed Byte 18 from 25 to 26 in the long coding and hey presto, rear positional lights now on with DRL's (at full brightness!). You're a star! x

Can anyone advise on the SB coding? I have 2B at the moment. Thanks

Tried 18, 25 and 26 no luck. Just some strange combination of lights at the back!

Hey Silky, did you try entering 2C already? Eventhough it is not a 'tickable' option, I think you need to manually enter 2C into Byte 18. For me there was no option to tick 26 to activate the rear lights with DRL's, so I just entered it manually into Byte 18 and it worked right away. I know coding 2C in Byte 18 has worked on other facelift S3 Sportbacks, but perhaps yours is different, being an MY11 car. On my light switch both DRL and sidelight icons are illuminated simultaneously now. :) x

Woo! Spot on, thanks mate. That's got it!

Do you have AUTO lights? And what about the license plate lights? Do they get on aswell?
