nope you are right lanceIf they are what I think they are one turns off the internal alarm and the other disables the tilt alarm. Eg turn the internal alarm off so you can leave the windows down on a hot day. Turn the tilt alarm off if your jacking the car up.
May be wrong sure someone else will confirm.

i dont think he ment that kinda buttonUnderneath a plastic cover plate on the boot lid liner centrally above the catch. Remove the cover and you will see a white plastic circle. Insert screwdriver into this and lever to the right. Boot will unlock.
This applies to my 2006 sportback so can't comment on other years or two door models
