This has come on and I was wondering how do you know which pads it's on about?

Also, how can I tell if the discs needs replacing too as I dont want to be done over by some garage telling me I need new discs when I dont.

Cheers

Audi will tell you that you need new disks, I didn't replace mine when I changed the pads as I'm happy with the wear on the disks, they passed MOT recently too. I'm fairy sure there is only wear sensors on the front pads, but suspect you'll need to replace all the pads. If your going to change them yourself, you'll need a tool to wind back the rear pistons into the caliper but is an easy job.

It's the front pads. As far as I'm aware the rears don't have sensors ????

If the discs are showing any signs of grooving then it's best to replace them.

Actually some people say it's best to replace them anyway when renewing pads.

How early does the light come on? Is it something that needs doing immediately, or does it come on with thousands of miles left to go? haha

Just get it done mate - it'll need doing anyway to be safe !!

Yeah will do, it's not too expensive anyway.

Do you have any recommendations on the pads and discs to buy? I'd like to upgrade them slightly rather than fitting standard Audi ones on.

Sorry mate - can't help you with upgrade recommendations but someone will be along shortly I have no doubt !!!

TBH the audi ones are really good, i would stick with them unless you get bigger brakes.

Only the front left has a sensor so double check your pads as sometimes the sensor can get dirty and display the brake light
