hi guys and girls,

some of you guys will know i got my car keyed last week. i was planning on getting that sorted before having the coilovers i bought recently fitted. but as i need my car every day and wasn't going to have a chance to drop it off for a while, i had them fitted as planned.

first off some thank yous, to smudge_don for providing the 2nd hand coilovers. he's putting his car up for sale and so putting all the OEM parts back on. this is in order to free up some funds to get onto the property ladder. i hope you'll join me in wishing him the very best of luck.

second thank you goes to Midland VW for fitting them. if i'm honest they weren't as on the ball as i'm used to on this ocassion and i'm going to have to take it back to get a couple of things sorted. however i think this may have been a product of the gaffer being away. they're incredibly knowledgable, happy to help and experienced and they give you this experience at a very reasonable cost so i'd still recommend them to anyone.

ok so after 24hrs and some brisk driving here are my first thoughts:

the handling is much improved, body roll reduced and less pitch and dive under breaking. there's no trade off in ride comfort. the ride is at least as comfortable as the OEM S-Line suspension I had previously, and actually takes the edge off some of the rougher imperfections in our roads.

at the moment the car is a bit lower than i'd ideally like. my bumper's caught on a couple of speed bumps, but even without this inconvenience it's a shade lower than the stance i'm going for. i'll put up photos once i've had this corrected and had some spacers fitted.

conclusion: very good purchase, and one i'm glad i made. 8/10 (will become 9/10 once i've had the stance corrected).

gimme a couple of days

so demanding lol... i'll get up photos tomorrow. they'll be iPhone quality tho

.. be gd to see how yours is sitting mate as had the same coilovers fitted last month and really happy with them.. fitted by AMD and they did a wicked job.. although I may be looking to lower it a tad more...

I had some weitecs on my MK5 R32 and couldnt fault them.they transformed the feel of the car.

looks well, bit low at the front you mentioned?

yeah i think the back is spot on. the front i want raising a little. the stance you've got is exactly what i'm going for i think... the spacers will change the way it looks, so i might fit those before i have a play with it.

That look's great, I have the same coilovers in my garage just waiting to be fitted!!

Are you adding spacers to the front and rear? also what mm have you gone for? Heard 12mm at the back can rub

i've heard the same, so i'm going for 10s all around

Glad you got them on sub :) and thanks for the words regarding my house

I'm glad you're pleased, i thought that it was a big improvement over the S-Line suspension in terms of cornering and comfort tbh. I found the the OEM suspension seems to crash into bumps and potholes, whereas the Weitec's don't break your back every time

Get some spacers on the rears and you're onto a winner!

Yea i had every intention of spacing mine when I bought it, but I'm moving towards 19"s now

i thought the idea of coils was the adjustablility or is that as high as they go? looking good anyway inspires me to treat the s3 asap

no they go higher. the reason i went with coilies rather than springs were because i wanted to be able to pick the perfect stance, which you can't do with springs.

the fact that i can adjust them later is an added bonus, and one i'm unlikely to get any use out of

Looking good dude. I had my H&R's fitted last week and they look the nuts. Exactly as S3 were intended to look. Pics to follow......

Looks really well.
Nice wheel choice too:thumbsup:

Paul

wasn't really a choice as such, but i'm really glad i got a car with them. they're by far my favourite OEM wheel

Sub sorry to hijack your thread. I had some Weitec Hicon GT coilovers lying at home, I finally got them fitted, also at Midlands VW. Really friendly place.
The ride is firm but definitely an improvement over my lowering springs.
Heres a few pics.
Before on Eibach Sportlines

Prefer the flat look compared to the Eibachs.
S do you have any updated pics of yours?

Cheers

Not at all matey. Yours and my car could be twins lol. (yours is the evil one because it's derv!)

No but I'll do my best to get some. Need the spacers fitted first!

lol I can't disagree with you there, prefer to be the evil one

Have you ordered your spacers yet? I definitely need some especially for the rears, still unsure what mm. Was thinking 10mm rear and 8mm front. I'm sure the front wheels are slightly more spaced out then the rear wheels anyway, so thought 10 and 8 should be the perfect balance!

ive got 10 & 12's was going to fit them today, but cant get the ****** nuts off the sodding car!! so gonna have to go to my local tyre place and get them to get the nuts off for me, looks like audi need to adjust their settings on the guns!!

Good work.

Cheers bro

Lol the last place who fitted your tyres must of tightened it way to tight. Same happened to me, it was so tightly fitted my washer broke, i was driving with my rear tyre at a slight angle for a week until a new one was ordered, not cool.
Are the 12mm for the rear? I wanted to go with that but a few people have had issues with rubbing, at least with 10mm I shouldn't have a problem.

well the car hasnt had the wheels off since i bought it from audi, so i guess it was those muppets that over did them during their inspections
yep 10s for the fronts and 12s for the rear, from what ive heard, the only rubbing issue is caused by the single screw at the top of the wheel arch so if you do get any rubbing then you can whip it out and all should be good, mine will be getting lowered on some h&r's ive got laying around, just waiting for the funds so can get them fitted so i may have to loose that screw, but as i dont really get people in the back seat, it shouldnt be a problem

mate you need to get down the gym and work on them guns lol

and you wont get any rubbing on the back with 12mm spacers on the rear as i don't get any .

haha seriously i could be but like a tank and they wouldnt shift, i got the nut wrench on the nuts, stood on it and it still wouldnt shift... and i weigh 90 odd kg!! was shocked!!
just have to pop down teh local tyre place and get them to pop the wheels off for me and i really wanted them on today haha!
