big grill front end parts

hi guys, seen the threads about changing the front end to the big grill as my girlfriends is a small grill. but anyway my question is does it matter what year grill i get compared to the model lights, say 2009 front bumper with 2007 lights, would it still fit and look ok? and same with the bonnet?

also would the A3 cabriolet bumpers fit ok too?

2007 and 2009 parts are NOT interchangeable, as there was a facelift in 2008/2009.

thats technically not true, im facelifting the front end of my 07 s3, theres pics and details over on vagoc.co.uk, but you cannot combine different years on the front end

yeah ill be doing it myself, im quite knowledgeable with cars and my dads in the trade so fitting it etc isnt a problem its just getting the parts.

if i was to get 2006/7 parts could i keep my existing lights?

yes. only need to change the lights for the facelift 2008 + front end. when you say big and small, do you mean dual grille (8P1) to singe frame (8P2) cos there's a lot of threads for this and it's fairly straight forward.

only things to bear in mind are that the S3 grille is smaller than the others and only fits in the S3 bumper. otherwise all the parts are interchangable. you just need a bonnet, grille and front bumper (+/- foglights). however if you're going for the standard bumper the fogs are interchangable as well.

yes sorry i mean from 8p1 to 8p2 front end, she wants an S-line bumper so as long as its not the s3 bumper the grills etc are the same. she already has fog lights so i presume they will fit the 8p2 bumper?

not an sline or s3 bumper mate, youll also need adapter looms or a rewire on the plugs, both are simple options, plug n' play

so ive found her a bumper off a 2008 a3, its not an s line or anything, but she has seen a lower skirt for her origional bumper that looks good but wondering if anyone knows if anywhere does a lower skirt to fir the normal 2008 bumper that looks good?
