Don't fit a dump valve at all...it'll only cause your engine Management problems as it gets confused as to where the metered air has gone...leading to longer lag between coming off the throttle and getting back in it, slightly decreased performance and sounds utterly Chav (in my view).

What you need is a Divertor Valve, so it keeps the dumped air in the system.

Forge make some good Divertor Valves.

Hi, most people go for one of these

    http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/con...DV&inc=product

But you can get the OEM from Vagparts for a fraction of the price. The forge ones are better for mapped 1.8Ts but no reason not to have one if your not mapped, apart from the price.

As said, you need to use a recirculating diverter valve and nt an atmospheric dump valve. Most 1.8T owners go for these...

As said by Damian and others you dont want a 'Dump Valve' as such, the Vag 1.8 turbo engine uses a recirculating air system, this means that the air that would be dumped has allready been measured and accounted for by the ecu. You need to fit a recirculating diverter valve, this way the engine gets its air back just like stock and doesnt run rich and splutter on every gear change.

I can only speak for the Forge 007 that has allready been mentioned as i have one in my s3 and its solid as a rock. If you want the dump valve noise then fit a cone filter at the same time and you will be able to hear plenty of wosh on every gear shift under boost.

Damian - I will be coming yourway in the new year to get a DV cold side relocation kit for my S3, do you know if you still get the above mentioned wosh on gear changes or does that tend to go away as your dumping less air between gears?

With a induction kit you will get a nice noise from the 007P but you do get more from the Splitter valve, but we still prefer the 007P.

They don't cause problems and do give you more noise then what the 007P's do, you'll be fine with it and it's a great valve, just personal choice that we prefer the 007P's.

Ok cool, thanks for confirming that. I get some sort of satisfaction from the noise of my gases dumping!

I want to buy one of these asap, just gotta choose somewhere...

...although this is not the way its supposed to be fitted and can allow the DV to be forced open under high boost....

Reversed 007P sounds like a load of poo if you ask me. More of a high pitched chirp then a whoosh noise.
