With the promiss of another lovely winter on the cards...
Are people looking to make any changes?
Ive been thinking of new bulbs and maybe lift the coilovers a little.
Or do i just chance it again? Last time we had snow i noticed the HID set up on my car was poor to be honest, The car would pull on any surface but stopping was another thing,
Is this just how they are??

I tend to give my car one good wash and wax before the bad weather sets in, then I know that when it gets covered in ****, it's sitting on top of a nice layer of wax, so no damage will be done.

Then, I leave it without washing until about march. the crusty layer of road grime soon builds up and protects the paint underneath :D

Do you think this would really work? I'm not convinced as it just seems wrong but can't think of a reason why it wouldn't be ok if there was a decent layer of wax lol.
Beats washing it in the freezing cold when it gets covered in **** the next day!

Gave mine a good coat of wax at the weekend and it will be getting another one if its decent this weekend.

Serviced it last month so just some new wipers and I should be good for the winter. Bring on the snow :)

4wd is no substitute for winter tyres.

All 4wd does is allows you to start moving. Your steering and stopping are no different to any other car.

Infact your potentially worse off because you've probably managed to pick up more speed given the greater apparent traction, and arent aware of how little grip there is until you try to brake or turn. Plus your car will be heavier than a 2wd equivalent.

Fk1000p or 845 insulator wax. Then just a spray down to get rid of the salt.

I was the only one able to get out of my lane last year!

It's ridiculous, I never use my S3 in the winter unless it's an emergency. I did have use of one last year of course, and it makes sense to have 4wd in icy/snowy conditions, it never missed a beat... but I have a 1995 Rav4 - which is dying - that makes good progress, and can carry stock, and make deliveries!

    Service (fresh oil and filter)

    New front wipers

That should be about it for mine :)

Well i had actualy forgotten about the oil,
I run millers oil in the summer months and it will probably be too thick for winter months. I will sort this problem after ADI
Im going to check the underside of the car as i know ive been quite close to the floor a few times with pot holes and the like... re underseal any areas that have been scuffed,
Ive sealed the paint work so now just need to hammer a few coats of wax on

I got my Dunlop WS 4D's fitted to my set of winter wheels the other day. So probably toward the end of Oct i'll pop them on. I'll also give it a good coat of wax too in the next week or 2.

Apart from that, probably just the normal stuff to check, anti-freeze etc.

Not as fun as the S3, the Rav just about has enough power and low enough gearing to spin all 4 wheels in 2nd gear. An S3 with remap and Haldex performance controller in open space can be fun, comes down to how much talent you have... :racer:
