Ok as my new wheels have arrived, I now know my current tyres won't fit so I'm gonna have to buy some more :-(

I'm gonna go for some mid range tyres... I have 2 month old Eagle F1s on my standard wheels so I'll put these wheels back on in winter!

So... I've been told I have 3 options...
Toyo T1 Sport
Falken fk453
Hankook evo s1

Tyre size will be 215x45x18

Any other options?
Don't wanna spend more than £90 really on a tyre

+1 on the Eagle F1's, got mine for £76 each, but my son is in the trade.
You want 40 profiles on 18" wheels, dunno where the 45 is coming from.

I still think PSS is worth the little bit more just my two cents...

I'd choose the PSS....well I did for a start,so I rate them well.

Very good all rounder, even in winter.

Ask doogie about the 215x45 as he has them on his :)
Why wheels are 18x8 ET 42 so that's why I need the 45

Why not 225 x 40 x 18?

Bit of stretch for clearance id say.

Would recommend the pilot super sports too for that little bit extra.

And I wouldn't bother with the 45 profile, go for 40.

That's what i was thinking.
225 x 40 x 18s were what I had on the car when I bought it....only when I got the TD 1.2s we went up to 245 x 40 x18.

Well I'm just going on what the local tyre company have said and also what Doogie is using.
So you think 215x40 et 42 will be ok and cause no rubbing?

My bad... i told you I was running 45 profile. I'm actually 40 profile.

Et42
215/40/18
18x8
With 12mm spacers on the front and 15mm spacers on the rear. You'll get the same stance as me with very little rubbing. Best of both worlds.. functional and looks great.

If you can goto 225 /40/18 these are a lot more common size tyre so prices are better. Either way have a look at Tyreleader.co.uk they are pretty much always cheaper than anywhere else you look at including Camskill.

215 isn't a lot of rubber to have on the road, what is the weight loading for the tyres on an 8P A3 ?.

Karl.

Jeez good job I didn't buy them then today lol

Exactly.

I thought it was an odd choice of sizes.

FWIW,I've tried most of the tyres you've listed, and the PSS is by far the best all rounder,in terms of grip, progression, wet performance(!) and wear rate.
The F1s come close on grip, but the wear rate is way higher.

IMHO 18x8J ET42 with 225/40/18 should be OK? I can't remember but it either just clears or just slightly rubs, and if you remove the arch screw that should solve it?

Must see how much No1 Son can do me PSS's for.
I've just fitted four F1's, so it'll be a while before I can give them a go.

Where's is this arch screw everyone talk about? I wasn't to sure when I had the wheel off which one it was? Any pics please?
