Might be a odd thread I know, but I'm 21 July 4th. My parents and Fiancé are nagging me constantly what I would like.

My fiancé has offered me the money for a new clutch or exhaust and bits for my S3. However my parents have said they've got £500 aside for something. Originally they were going to put it towards a holiday for me and my fiancé but I've just put in for anew job which is a continuous shift pattern so were holding off that this year. They're not happy with passing money over which is more than reasonable but say they want to pay for something memorable.

So I was just wondering what you guys did/recommended for the budget?I have looked into the Audi Driving Experience, especially as I have many moist dreams over the RS5, but I've done track days with my last car and soon will with my S3 so think alot of the novelty of being on track will be wasted and its a big chunk of money for something which won't be 110% thrilling and memorable.

    All ideas welcome and appreciated!

Ok, so far the only thing i have thought of that is not car/holiday related, is a personal portrait, be it just you and your fiance, or It could include your parents with you both. That is something you can keep and treasure for many years to come. :) x

She has no sisters no lol.

Its less than £1000 but nearly enough for the clutch.

Hiring a R8 sounds a brilliant idea actually! Wonder if its possible at 21 and how much, ill look into it later.

I'm with Joe - get a nice watch. It's something that you can keep and should last your lifetime. I got a TAG S/EL from my parents when I was 21 back in 1994. Still going strong and I wear it every day. My brother also got a watch, and my sisters got bracelets. We all still have them (and big sis is 55 next month).

I agree with the idea of a nice watch. It is something you can keep forever and even pass on to your children.

I do already have a nice watch, but I guess a new one would never hurt.

Were also looking into renting and my parents have suggested if we do it could go towards some furniture etc.

Suggesting presents totally undermines the whole idea of buying a celebration gift. If your parents and fiancé can't find something between them then surely they are just buying a present for the sake of buying a present.

My birthday wasn't long ago, everybody asked me "what do you want ", and my reply was always "surprise me".

I ended up with a modest hand full of gifts from my closest friends and family members which really meant something to me. As such I was much more grateful than the usual cash in a card or big ticket items I would have wanted when I was a teenager.

I guess what I am trying to say is, I would leave them to it and let them buy you what they want to get you, not what you want them to get you.

I got a posh watch on my 21st. Some money aswell coz i needed it.

Depends on your interests and personality i guess, and values.
Your mother and mrs sgould be able to judge what would be memorable surely.

Like others have said, it depends on your interests but I think your parents would like you to look back and say.. for my 21[SUP]st[/SUP]“I did this”

    For that money you can
Go to the motoGP / F1 at Silverstone
    TT Isle of Man
    Any BTCC
    Horse Racing
Music.. what bands would you like to see?

Pick something and make a good weekend out of it.

As much as I wanted bits for my car or holiday or money, I really did appreciate the engraved watch from my family, something I can always look back on.

I suggest you get something 'sentimental' that you can really appreciate and hold onto for a long time and then get some other pressies from family/friends/fiancé.

Don't forget, 21 is a biggie, so you need to get something 'special' for it.

Some very good ideas, I just find the whole idea very underwhelming. Maybe I'm just getting too old for my own good :uhm:

I already have a nice watch, not really fussed about a new one. I just really don't want it to be done with and have big regrets which is what I foresee, I also don't want to say, just get a new watch or the sake of it when I probably won't use it.
