    What colour ?
    is it steam (white )
    oil (blue)
    grey (fuel)
are you losing water or gaining oil
is there anything in the water residue of oil etc ?

Generally I'd agree with you, but bear in mind (around here at least) the air is cold and damp which will compound the effect of any condensation.

Perhaps just be slightly more aware of the symptoms of head gasket failure until you've had the opportunity to reassure yourself ;)

i see cars every morning that do that loads of white smoke evan my tdi dose it its cold out there mate.
i had a head gasket go on my last car and did not no as it was not oil mixing with water so was not getting the sluge on dipstick.
but lost heat in the car and was using a lot of water like one L on a 20 min drive if its that your top rad hose will be rock hard but
to be safe pop it into any garage thay have a test they do it should be free but id say its nothing to worry about.
i had smoke from mine when the temp sensor was faulty and not the good kind but that was the temp sensor.

Lots of white water vapour from my 2.5 TDI onthese cold damp days seems to be more on these than other cars but it should go when warmer and check oil and water levels regularly.

It's just because of the cold weather and damp air which causes condensation, and in turn makes it look like the car is smoking. It'll be nothing to worry about, I see a lot of cars (mainly powerful big engined) pushing out lots of steam in traffic jams.

Yes but it should go when the engines hot and the cars on the move you should not notice it .
