I have bought RNSE navigation after buying car, and I have problem with quality of radio station I see lot of them but sound isn't clear. In VAG-com there is an error with amplifier.

I have question for those of you who have bought RNSE with car, can you give me your VIN number so that I could check list of parts which are thesame and which are diffrend.

The amps in the boot lid are different for the rnse. You should have a HF and ZF connection for the rnse, but the symphony ii+ and concert ii+ cars has two HF connections. This is where you get the ZF short to earth issue I assume you have found.

Get a coffee and read this...

This explains it better. Taken from the above thread. The golf diversitybox I and others have used doesn't appear to fix it completely, but my FM reception is certainly improved.

Thanks for the PM Gr1zly. You mentioned your fitter just plugged in the RNSe, he should have moved the bose wire in the quadlock, see pic.
He should have also coded the RNSe for bose. The coding should be 0xx9xxx and also adaptation channel 8 should be set to 255, that way you wont see the GALA menu on the RNSe. It should also sound a lot better!

Have to ask but have you got the diversity antenna adapter plugged in to the rns at rear in the twin antenna socket as this is what happened to me on my S4 B6 the installer didnt connect this at all.

The amp wont throw any errors as it doesnt have any diagnosis wires, no canbus, do you mean the rns is throwing an error, what is the error?

The 07 8P and onwards have a new antenna system when a ii+ headunit is fitted so there is no diversity adapter as such. It'll be the RNSe logging a "ZF short to earth" or "ZF open circuit" depending on whether the second antenna wire is plugged in or disconected.

The error is only on when you plug computer with VAG-com.

RNSE is working very good as navi, cd, and phone.
Only problem is not good quality of sound on the radio.

    John

With the BOSE how does the audiopilot work then when connecting the RNS-E?

Just when craig fitted mine the microphone for the audiopilot does not go anywhere and has to be taped up. As you say there is no menu for GALA now so was wondering what happens, mine does go quiet sometimes when I slow down (not all the time) but seems to turn up quite often when going over noisy road surfaces?

John, would you say the diversity box restores FM reception to the same quality you previously had with the Concert/Symphony?

When you say 'it doesn't fix it completely', are you referring to the ZF error code? That I can live with but poor FM reception I can't.

    Hi Jamie,
As I understand it, audiopilot is part of the Bose system, there is another mic in the car which listens to the background noise and turn the volume up or down accordingly. I'll stand corrected on that though. :icon_thumright:
Not too sure about the wire you mention, but if Craig (S8Craig I presume) can't find a home for it, then there probably isn't one!

Same quality as the sym ii+ unit? No, it not quite as good as that. But the RNSe is an old piece of kit now.
It does fix the ZF error code until you start the engine... Then it returns.
Without the golf diversity box I experienced what could be described as static/hiss on some FM stations in a dip on a road close to home when the car is moving. With the diversity box fitted I no longer hear the hiss when traveling on the same road listening to the same station.
You can see the ZF values changing in one of the engineering mode screens. It would be good if someone without the golf diversity box (Jamie I'm thinking of you!) could look to see if the ZF values change whilst driving around.

The wire he taped up I'm presuming was the other end of the mic that went into the radio and registered/told the noise to go higher/lower.

The standard radio I took out had a AUTO function on the GALA menu and worked well but now on the RNS-E it seems to be less frequent.....

Gala from what I recall worked on a speed sensitive function not the background noise.
